About a year ago, said my dentist and hygienist that I had gingivitis. In fact, I suspect that I had over a decade. The interesting thing about gingivitis is that it is not too much noise as it slowly eroding your gums. Sometimes there may be a lot of bone loss before you have knowledge.

What made me attention was when the hygienist me a paper that the office was not responsible if I wanted to sign lost my teeth. At first I saw this as a possible marketing ploy, as they tell me to have a root scaling and planing procedure was done. That sounded painful and expensive.

I thought that with my characters that the paper part of their attempt to move in the direction of the adoption of this therapy. They wanted me to start immediately. I refused. I was not about to approve a treatment that so seriously, without sounding a little investigation of my own.

What I found was disturbing. I think many people do not quite understand that bleeding gums, no matter how minute the bleeding, is a bad sign. For example, I have heard someone say that their gums bleed only if they push too hard with a toothbrush. She thinks that means that they have no gingivitis or periodontitis.

However, one would have to make quite a lot of pressure healthy gums to bleed. So if a person is brushing or flossing your gums from it a chance, that person has gingivitis, bleeding or worse, periodontal disease. A person who notices bleeding gums should be a dentist for diagnosis and treatment review.

I also discovered that there was a root scaling and planning is not something I would not. In fact, a relative of mine had the procedure done. In its opinion, it made her gums worse. The procedure involves numbing the gums and scraping below the gum line to remove the root to a built-up tartar or plaque.

I am researching some possible alternative solutions and found something I thought maybe promising. I tried it and by the next visit my gums become healthier. They were better to the point that the dental hygienist and dentist said that it is not more tarter under the gum. I do not know the root scaling and planning of treatment.

Recently I visited the dentist again and they said my gums continue to improve. This time there was zero bleeding during the probing part where they control for the Pocket depth with a metal instrument. No bleeding during a routine examination, is a good sign.

Gingivitis can endanger your health. Infected gums can be a way for bacteria to enter the bloodstream. In addition, gingivitis is the main cause of tooth loss and not cavities as one might expect.
