A student stands on a bathroom scale in an elevator at rest on the 53th floor of a building. ?
1Question : A student stands on a bathroom scale in an elevator at rest on the 53th floor of a building. ?
The scale reads 867 N.
As the elevator moves up, the scale reading increases to 991 N, then decreases back to 867 N. Find the acceleration of the elevator.
As the elevator approaches the 63th floor, the scale reading drops to 683 N. What is the acceleration of the elevator?

using Newtons 2nd law of motion we find that F(unbalanced) = ma
Weight = mg
mass = weight/gravitational field strength
mass = 867/9.81(assuming hes on earth)
mass = 88.4kg.
F(unbalanced) = 991 – 867 = 124 N
124 = 88.4 x a
a = 1.4 m/s/s
same again for part b)
mass = 88.4kg
Fub = 683 – 867 = -184 (- implies direction)
a = -2m/s/s or deceleration by 2 m/s/s whatever u want
Cheers

A student stands on a bathroom scale in an elevator at rest on the 64th floor of a building. The scale reads 8
0Question : A student stands on a bathroom scale in an elevator at rest on the 64th floor of a building. The scale reads 8
As the elevator moves up, the scale reading increases to 935 N, then decreases back to 828 N. Find the acceleration of the elevator.
As the elevator approaches the 74th floor, the scale reading drops to 782 N. What is the acceleration of the elevator?
floor scale

Answer by M&M
Well, F=ma
since at rest, the acceleration is 9.8m/s^2 (some ppl just round to 10), you can find the mass, which would be 84.49 (if you used 9.8) or 82.8 (if you used 10)
Now that you know the mass, you can use it at different forces to determine the acceleration.
So in the first one, the new force is 935. the mass is still the same, so use F = ma again to determine the a, which would be 11.3 if you use a mass of 82.8 or 11.1 if you used 84.5.
BUT!!! you have to take in account the acceleration of gravity on the force put against the scale. So you subtract gravity away, and the acceleration is only 1.3 (regardless of which gravity and weight you used as long as you matched them)
For the second one, it’s the same but the opposite. the difference in force is the difference in acceleration.
student stands on a scale in an elevator at rest on the 64th floor of a building. The scale reads 834?
0Question : student stands on a scale in an elevator at rest on the 64th floor of a building. The scale reads 834?
As the elevator approaches the 74th floor, the scale reading drops as low as 755 N. What is the acceleration of the elevator?
floor scale
Best answer:
Answer by bolexisist
first find the mass of the person, when the elevator is at rest the only acceleration is that of gravity
F = mg
834 = 9.81 m
m = 85 kg
next, when the elevator is moving the accel of the elevator is pointing up, while the accel of gravity is pointing down, so the total accel is the difference between the two
F = m(g – a)
F = mg – ma
755 = 834 – 85a
a = 0.93 m/s^2

0Question : A student stands on a bathroom scale in an elevator at rest on the 64th floor of a building. The scale reads 8?
A student stands on a bathroom scale in an elevator at rest on the 64th floor of a building. The scale reads 839 N.
(a) As the elevator moves up, the scale reading increases to 949 N, then decreases back to 839 N. Find the acceleration of the elevator.
(b) As the elevator approaches the 74th floor, the scale reading drops to 782 N. What is the acceleration of the elevator?

Answer by kuiperbelt2003
we will apply newton’s second law; the forces acting on the scale are the normal force (up), weight (down) and these combine to produce an ma term, in other words
N-mg = ma
the scale reading measures the normal force.
if the reading at rest is 839N, the student’s mass is
839N/9.8m/s/s = 85.6kg
a) N-mg = ma
if N=949, we have
949 = mg+ma
949=85.6g+85.6a
a=1.28m/s/s in the positive direction
b) if N=782N, then
782=mg+ma
782-85.6g=85.6a
a=-0.66m/s/s (slowing down as it approaches the floor)

You could try to get a job as a receptionist or something along those lines. You could also apply to be a dental assistant. They simply “assist” the dentist and prepare the rooms for cleanings and what not. Some states require you to be certified for that but i know mine doesn’t. Good luck!

neighbor stands on the scale in the elevator and is pleased to see that she only weighs 850 N as the elevator comes to a stop at the 3rd floor. what is the acceleration(decceleration) of the elevator as it is coming to a stop?
floor scale
Best answer:
Answer by gintable
The scale measures the normal force between the floor and the neighbor.
On a stationary floor, her weight is the weight that corresponds to her mass via value of g.
When in a slowing down elevator, it measures differently.
Forces on her:
N: normal force (upward)
W: weight = m*g (downward)
Newton’s 2nd Law equation (assuming downward acceleration):
Note: downward acceleration is the case when an ascending elevator comes to a stop
W – N = m*a
Solve for a:
a = (W – N)/m
Substitute:
a = (m*g – N)/m
Plug in data:
N := 850 N; m:= 95 kg; g:=9.8 N/kg
Result:
a = 0.8526 m/sec^2

Replacing the typical fear of a test also Silvera? s students say they are confident that they understand the topic and â? think with it.Â? The goal is not how much they learn by heart, but what they know and can apply. This competence builds confidence and increases only over time.
The study of silver technology is used in his teaching contains a methodology to identify when a student hit a barrier to understanding and how to help students overcome the barrier. Sam has to overcome the knowledge to help students problems in class.
Another important factor in the study of technology is that each student works at their own pace, the dilemma of whether to take account of secular education, fast or slow learners. And every student, fast or slow, is able to overcome quickly to grasp, again and advance to correctly identify the methods of study, the exact goal to study and solve.
The result? No depletion Sam Silvera? Classroom s. It is less stressful for him, his students and the parents and administrators to account for the results.
