i’m 18, and have had an ED since 14. i’m being sent to inpatient. i was wondering if i could email someone about what its like with inpatient living? i have a lot of questions. . .

Been there done that, so sure…you can email me anytime. I’ll do my best to answer honestly any question you have. I had an eating disorder for 16 years, I’ve been recovered for 11 years.
Deciding to go inpatient is a personal choice, and a medical one. Life threatening situations oftentimes demand it, however it is my belief that inpatient eating disorder facilities should be pleasant, compassionate and have a full medical, dietary, and counseling team that have been fully trained in the illness. Ask questions and demand answers. Don’t be afraid to call around the nation.
Good questions to ask:
1. Where are you located?
2. Do you take insurance?
3. How much is the cost?
4. How long is the average stay?
5. Do you have a brochure?
6. How large is the facility?
7. How many staff members are there?
9. What is the ratio of staff to patients?
10. How many drs, dieticians, and clinicians do you have?
11. Is the staff trained/certified in eating disorders?
12. Will there be one-on-one counseling with drs, dieticians, and clinicians?
13. Will there be group therapy?
14. What methods are used for eating?
15. Is punishment used when an individual does not eat?
16. Will there be arrangements for continuing outpatient treatment?
17. Are you accredited ie. by the Joint Commission?

Question : question about eating disorders regarding teens sent into treatment?
how do teens like 16 or 17 with eating disorders who’ve been sent into a treatment facility, get education and schooling done? how is all their requirements met? are they held back a year or something, or can the center provide schooling that meets general requirements for graduating?
(i wanna right a story about a girl who gets eating disorders and just thought of this question….)

If they are a teen in the hospital they will attend school at the hospital and it does meet requirements. Hopefully, all treatment centers are the same.

My friend was anorexic, and she was taken from school for about a month to get treatment at some sort of clinic. Where do you think she went and what do they do there?

she just went to re-hab, they probably helped her with her eating habits and monitored her throwing up or something.

Question : i’m being sent to an anorexia counseling session…but i don’t have an eating disorder!?
my parents seem to think that i have an eating disorder, because i’m very thin. but the thing is, i eat like a horse! they’re obviously making a mistake by sending me there…they’re pulling me out of school for a day and everything. what can i say to the people at the clinic to convince them that i truly don’t have an eating disorder? will they be able to tell? i mean, i don’t even count calories for crying out loud! how can i make my first visit to this place be my last?

maybe they will ask your parents if they see you eat every day and how often they see you eat
If you eat one or more meals a day with them or in their presence maybe that will be good enough for the counselor. Or you could suggest to the counselor to ask them this if the counselor doesn’t say it. Ask for a family session
And they will be able to tell that you are not vomiting your food back up, because you won’t have any damage in your throat or teeth from stomach acid.

CNN only showed a report from the border between Gaza and Egypt. There were a number of trucks with medical supplies in Gaza to try to get out of Egypt. The gate on the Gaza side was locked and there was no Palestinian border gibt.Ist Hamas in the Gaza Strip to prevent medical supplies for ever, for some reason? Iloveyooh Sorry, in this case it is not the Jews. This is a border between Gaza and Egypt. There were no Israelis in the region.

i’m always hesitant to tell my psychologist the way i am really feeling just in case she decides i have to go to hospital. What type of things would make her come to that conclusion?
I asked my doctor for perscription weight loss drugs and he sent me to an endocrinologist?
2An endocrinologist deals with hormones and the endocrine system. . does he think I have a thyroid problem or something? And can anyone who’s been to an endocrinologist tell me what happens when you go there?
