Just like any medicine Trileptal had a bunch of side effects, but there doesn’t seem to be any sexual ones. It’s possible that there is a mental cause. I know I sometimes get a little depressed after I have a seizure, and especially when I was first diagnosed. Or maybe there is something else that has happened or changed in your life recently?

Temporal lobe seizure – causes, symptoms and treatment methods
0seizure temporal lobe is the commonest cause of partial seizures and aura. During a crisis in the temporal lobe, you can knock your lips, swallow repeatedly or things with your fingers. These activities are called automatisms. The temporal lobe is located close to the ear. Temporal lobe seizures may be people of all ages and can occur as a single episode or as part of a repeated, chronic (ongoing). Seizures of temporal lobe often starting in childhood. Temporal lobe epilepsy is difficult to diagnose because temporal lobe seizures may not show up on an EEG. Sometimes these crises caused by an abnormality in the temporal lobe, as a small scar or tumor, but often no identifiable cause is found. A crisis is a result of abnormal electrical activity in the brain that cause the loss of consciousness or altered consciousness, involuntary movements, and overwhelming impressions. Certain types of electrical activity can cause seizures, which episodes are where the spread of electrical signals in the abnormal patterns in the brain.
Temporal lobe seizures often result from damage to certain areas in the temporal lobes of the brain. This damage includes scarring, called mesial temporal sclerosis. Convulsions with TLE consist of simple partial seizures found no loss of consciousness (with or without aura) and complex partial seizures (ie, with loss of consciousness). For most men, seizures of TLE can be completely or at least largely controlled by medication for partial seizures. Many medications can be used seizures alone or in combination. Temporal lobe epilepsy is usually classified as simple or complex partial seizures. Repeated attacks can damage the hippocampus TLE, a brain region that is important for memory and learning. Pregnancy, lack of sleep, skipping doses of medication, use of drugs (including alcohol) or disease controls may cause seizures in a person with a seizure disorder well. Temporal lobe resection may be an option for people with epilepsy, whose seizures are disabling and / or uncontrolled by medication, or if the side effects of drugs are severe and significant impact on quality of life of people through.
Temporal lobe seizure causes />
The most common causes and risk factors for temporal lobe seizure are:
Temporal lobe seizures often result from damage to certain areas in the temporal lobes of the brain.
Past infections such as herpes encephalitis or meningitis.
Certain types of electrical activity.
The causes can be trauma, infections, brain tumors, genetic syndromes and lesions of any kind
Even if a brain tumor is a rare cause of a seizure may be the first indication of a brain tumor.
Diseases of the blood vessels such as arteriovenous malformation (AVM), a cause of seizures.
The symptoms of temporal lobe seizure />
Some symptoms of temporal lobe seizure are:
Discomfort.
A sudden feeling of fear is unfounded.
Hallucinations or illusions (vision, smell, taste or other sensory perceptions).
Nausea.
Epigastric sensations (“a funny feeling in my stomach,” “stomach rising”).
Forced turning of the eyes.
Abdominal pain or discomfort.
Changes in vision, language, thought, consciousness, personality.
Rapid heartbeat / pulse.
Temporal lobe seizure treatment
Here is the list of methods for the treatment of temporal lobe seizure:
Standard medications to control seizures in the temporal lobe include phenytoin (Dilantin), carbamazepine, valproic acid (Depakene), phenobarbital, lamotrigine (Lamictal), topiramate (Topamax), tiagabine (Gabitril) and zonisamide (Zonegran).
Oral anticonvulsants (anti-epileptic drugs taken orally) are to eliminate or reduce the number of future seizures.
Several repeated seizures are usually treated with long-term use of an antiepileptic drug.
For temporal lobe seizures that do not respond well to medication, surgery may be an option.
The operation (called a temporal lobectomy) usually removes only the abnormal part of the temporal lobe, the lobes not together. Many also of vagus nerve stimulation or the ketogenic diet benefit.
Use jewelry or card information (such as Medic-Alert or similar) that a seizure disorder can specify are recommended. This accessory can be useful to obtain immediate medical attention if any of crisis.

Over time, can anti seizure medications cause cirrhosis of the liver?
1Question : Over time, can anti seizure medications cause cirrhosis of the liver?
I have epilepsy and have been on anti seizure medications, such as Tegretol, Dilantin, Depakote, Keppra, etc, since I was 9 years old (I’m 25 now… and female). I’ve been noticing some strange symptoms lately, like bruising, upper right abdominal discomfort, and loss of appetite. Am I jumping the gun on this and being overly dramatic or should I see a doctor?

I think you should definitely see your doctor. Liver problems can be a side effect of most anti seizure medications (and most other medications too). I’m currently on Dilantin and Depakote and it’s been affecting my liver too. Your doctor will often check your liver functions when he/she checks your blood levels. But if you are having symptoms, I would definitely go see your doc.
