If you are looking for someone to prescribe hormones, you have the “letter” from your therapist. Did you speak? To tell you the truth, I know not to interfere with an endocrinologist. I went to my doctor who writes and performs blood tests every so often. Perhaps you are shooting too high.

Please help me. I have a 4 year old cat that has been diagnosed with hypothyroidism. His only symptom is paralysis. He cannot walk. His T4 count was below the minimum and the vet put him on hormone replacement meds. They are not working and I do not now what to do. I am looking for a miracle. Can you help me?

I HAD A LIFE THREATENING CONDITION IN WHICH I HAD TO HAVE A HYSTERECTOMY A FEW YEARS AGO AND WITHIN THE FIRST MONTH GAINED 20 POUNDS DESPITE A GREAT DIET AND EXERCISING 5-7 DAYS A WEEK FOR 2 1/2 HOURS INCLUDING CARDIO AND LIGHT WEIGHT TRAINING. BEFORE THE HYSTERECTOMY I WAS NEVER OVERWEIGHT. SINCE HAVING IT I HAVE BEEN BATTLING WITH MY WEIGHT AND NO AMOUNT OF EATING RIGHT AND EXERCISING HAS CORRECTED THE PROBLEM. I HAVE SINCE GAINED 50 POUNDS. I HAVE NOT FOUND A DOCTOR WHO WILL HELP ME. THEY CLAIM MY THYROID IS WITHIN NORMAL RANGE ALTHOUGH ABOUT 6 YEARS AGO I HAD A CYST REMOVED FROM MY THYROID. Question : Testosterone Replacement Therapy/TRT Questions?
I have a few questions — my husband has had his testosterone levels tested and he is at 140; he will be meeting with his doctor in a few weeks to discuss treatment options. He is leaning toward the shots though I am leaning towards the patch based on research I have done. I will let him decide what he wants to do of course but I was wondering if any men out there have had the treatments and which ones work the best overall. He is 46 years old if age has any bearing. Also, does this completely ‘cure’ his ED and total lack of desire (viagra/cialis, etc. did nothing to help)? And….how long does it take for the treatment to kick in and help with the sex and his general better overall feeling? Any info you could pass along would be helpful, thanks so much! By the way — we would never have thought to have his testosterone tested until I put up a previous question re his ED and disinterest in sex – I am very grateful to the person who suggested he get his levels tested as it turns out they are extremely low .

Injections would be more effective than the patch. On top of that, he doesn’t have to worry about replacing the patches every so often.
There’s also the incredibly slim chance that, if he has his arm around someone, the medication would be applied to someone else.

Question : Can you take hormone replacement if you have chronic kidney disease?
I’m going through menopause and I’m wondering if I will be able to take estrogen replacement therapy with CKD (nephritis – GFR 50%). Is it too dangerous?
I’m asking because the symptoms include fatigue & muscle pain, not symptoms to be taken lightly. I can deal with hot flashes. Please give me a straight answer or an alternative answer (like an herbal supplement).

Why would you want to take hormone replacement in the first place. This is a normal part of aging and taking replacement hormones is dangerous and has many side effects. I am going thru it myself and would never take replacement hormones. No one ever died from going thru menopause and besides that once you go off the hormones, you go thru menopause all over again and get hot flashes…….

Some people do need estrogen blockers and some do not.
Usually it is people who take massive doses to help them build muscles that need them. This is because if you have “excess t-levels” then your body will try to convert that excess into estradiol (estrogen equivalent).
If you doctor is simply trying to bring your t-levels up to normal then you should have no need for the blocker.
