Question : Eating Disorder/ Anorexia/ Possible bulimia? Please Read =[?
I’ve been in recovery for anorexia for about 2 months now. I used to be 108 pounds at 5’6″ and now I’m around 114. I saw a picture of me at my worst 2 days ago and it really set me off- all I could think about was how good I looked and how fat I’ve become.
This, of course, is not on track with my treatment plan. It was my birthday yesterday and to celebrate my parents got me a huge chocolate cake, and followed it with words of how proud they are that I am recovering. It was absolutely painful to eat the cake, I could barely swallow it- I didn’t want to disappoint them.
Then, I felt so guilty that I drank tons of water and…well… purged. I had never done this before, which scared me. I read that it only gets rid of like 1/2 the calories so while my parents were out together I went on a 3 mile run to burn off the rest. I spent the rest of the evening measuring/weighing/calculating body fat %.
I have no idea where or how I went this wrong in two days. 2 months of recovery wasted in 2 days. I am so so so ashamed. I can’t even think of my parent’s reactions if they were to find out.
How can I get myself on track again without intervention (medical or parental)?

Seriously- tell your parents. They love you, they may be dissapointed at first. But they will be proud that you had the strength to ask for help. I hope that helps you!!

Question : Should I Go To School, or Take a Semester Off? (Long, but please read)?
Currently, I am signed up to start as a freshman at community college in two weeks. I was offered a deal at a college 2hrs away that would pay for the majority of my education (with scholarships and financial aid combined), and they said they’d hold the deal, but only if I entered as a freshman next year (meaning I can transfer only 11 credits). I decided to go to community college because I have a lot of personal issues going on right now and didn’t feel ready to leave home. Over the summer, however, things have gotten worse. I relapsed back into my eating disorder (mostly because of family stress and anxiety) and now my weight is down to 80lbs (I’m 5’4). My OCD/depression has also gotten worse. To top everything off, I am not sure which parent I am living with (they are separated). I feel like everything is so unstable. I just feel like I’ve hit rock bottom.
I am currently looking for a therapist/dietician to help me, but I’m having a hard time finding someone who will work with me. My mom keeps saying I should admit myself to an inpatient facility, which I really hate to do,but I don’t know anymore.
So now I am wondering if I should start my classes in 2 weeks, or take a semester off. I worked really hard in high school, and would feel bad and almost guilty if I took a semester off. I also think if would give me something to focus on. But on the other hand, I don’t at all feel ready to start school at this time. I feel like I already have so much on my plate. I would also have to rely on my mom to take me, as I don’t have any way of getting myself to school, and my mom is not the most reliable person (she’s almost always late for everything). I also don’t want to start my classes, and then have to withdrawl if I end up having to go to residential or inpatient treatment.
I know it’s ultimately up to me to decide, but what do you think is best? Should I go to school, or take a semester off and try to get better?

Please, I know this is long, but I really need help with this. I’m sorry if this takes up too much of your time, but I really need help and would really appreciate it if you took the time to read and answer this…
Me and my mom are really close, and when I lived with my dad, I always called her every day to talk. Especially because my dad is not a good, helpful listener, I don’t really talk about personal stuff to him. Also, my therapists have told me that I need to ask for support when I am feeling troubled. The thing is, when I am living with my dad, I can’t because I don’t have a therapist there. (he lives halfway across the country where my mom lives). So with no therapist or my psychiatrist, and my dad never listens, I only have my mom to talk to. And I have no friends. So read his email he just sent me:

I am so upset! As you can see, my dad is only concerned with himself. When I was in the hospital for an eating disorder, my treatment team called Child Services on my dad for neglect and other various reasons. They sent me to live with my mom after the discharge. Now that the case has been closed, my mom wants me to live with my dad just for the summer. But I don’t think the rule that I can’t talk to my mom as much as I want is fair. I know he only wants that because he is jealous of me talking to my mom…he even admitted that to me before…plus he hates her and doesn’t want his daughter liking her either. He said I could text, but my mom never texts back…I don’t even think she has texting.
Please what should I do? I want to talk to my mom, but don’t want to be sent back to NY if I do…please help!

I’ve never heard of any undergraduate degrees in child psychology.
There are psychology programs, and programs in human development. To specialize in child psychology, you will need to go to graduate school after you get your BA/BS.

Though it is not conventional, my obstetrician put me on diabetic diet for this pregnancy. I am insulin resistent and overweight, and my doctor wants to prevent gestational diabetes. She said it is safe for me to lose weight for the entire pregnancy.

i was put on the same “diet” with my second pregnancy. i really didn’t lose weight. but after the baby was born i was told i could eat the same way and i did lose weight. i lost about 30 pounds after my second. i saw a regs. dietitian and she helped with the meal plans. i ate string cheese, 1/2 cup of fruit at a time, peanut butter and sug free jelly, lean meats, loads of veggies, whole grain bread (1 piece at a time). 1 packet of oatmeal, 6 almonds, 2 eggs and a 8 oz glass of milk for breakfast. is an example of a breakfast. good luck
