Building a portable wheelchair ramp?
1Question : Building a portable wheelchair ramp?
I need a folding wheelchair ramp to get my son’s 60-lb wheelchair in and out of our SUV. Ordinarily I just lift it, but I’m pregnant with out second baby and my midwife tells me I should under no circumstances lift more than 35 lb while pregnant. School starts in two weeks and since I’m the one who takes him to and from school every day, I have to be able to get the chair in and out of the car without picking it up.
I’ve looked around online and called our wheelchair supply company and they all seem to run $ 500-$ 1000. I don’t have that kind of disposable cash to drop on a ramp and I’ve not been able to find helpful DIY instructions for a ramp that will fit into the car to travel with the chair. Does anyone have instructions for a ramp that can do what I need it to do and still fit into the back hatch of my car with the chair?

Should we remove the out side ramp and the stair chair in our home before we sell it?
1Question : Should we remove the out side ramp and the stair chair in our home before we sell it?
We are getting our house ready to put on the market. right now my mother in law lives with us and we had a wheelchair ramp at the front door and a stair chair that allows her to go down to the basement.
At this time she NEVER comes to the basement and she is able to walk down the garage steps and NEver uses the ramp.
Would it be better for the sell of our house to remove these 2 things or leave them there at put in the statment that they can be rremoved at buyer request?

I would leave it and put in that it can be removed.
Having these things is actually a plus because there are very few houses in most markets that have those things, so when people who are in wheelchairs are looking for a home they like to see ones that already have things that will make their lives easier. It might help it to sell more quickly.
At the same time telling the buyer you are willing to remove it if they want can also help the not isolate buyers from looking at the house. I think it’s a win-win.
Just don’t remove it before you know. I personally know people who are just lazy and bought a house because it had the ramp and the chair ride. They saw it is a perk…no kidding.
How can I build a simple, portable yet safe wheelchair ramp?
7Question : How can I build a simple, portable yet safe wheelchair ramp?
We have 4 stairs and I’d love to find a way for my sister who needs a wheelchair to come visit us. I don’t need a permanant structure, she would come only 2 -3 times per year if we could get her up some kind of ramp.
