I was blessed with straight teeth.
Unfortunately, that was about it. My eyesight is SO blurry, I’m legally blind in my right eye… 8|

Question : Is Orthodontia a good career choice?
I know Im only 13 and it’s years away, but is Orthodontia a good career choice, is it a stable industry? Im already taking AP classes and am going to graduating high school with about 2 years of college already done, so I want to choose a worth while career to plan for. If you have genuine information that would be helpful. =)

i need an individual insurance plan that covers orthodontia, oral surgery and dental visits. i do not need health insurance, just dental. i need to get my wisedom teeth extracted, i want to get invisalign and i also need to have a dental visit and teeth cleaning… any suggestions?

any dental plans I know of only pay like…50% of orthodontia (and never invisalign) and up to a max of $ 3500.00 only….

first appointment with the orthodontist should be at 7 years old, that way the ortho can modify the growth pattern to improve the place in the mouth and reduce future need of teeth movement.
But you can have ortho treatment all your life long

Im 13 and I have braces again for the second time. my orthodontist says he needs to put braces on me while my face is still growing. he says the right side of my jaw is growing much faster so yesterday he put elastic bands attaching my top and bottom teeth and they hurt like hell. anyways, i was wondering if all of this will still allow my face to look older or not.

I’m 13 and I’ve had braces, expanders and retainers since I was 8, and I apparently have another year to go. Is that normal, or do I just have a bad orthodontist? Cuz I feel like everyone else has their braces/retainers off within a year at most.

depending on the extent of the case, it may be necessary.
Also, you may have bad hygiene. Inflamed gums (gingivitis) slows down tooth movement. do you get yelled at by the hygienist at each visit? is there decay around your brackets?

Shouldn’t be a problem – I have a lingual bar retainer and I’ve never set of the metal detector…..

Note: This isn’t “Super Answerer” asking this question, this is her friend, but I don’t have a Yahoo account, so I’m just asking on this, and will pick a best answer from her account. Okay? Alright, let’s get started….
I recently got the dreaded Herbst device, and it makes my face look bulgy. If you know about the Herbst, you know it has litttle ball type things that make your cheeks stick out. It makes my face very round from my nose down. Also, there are metal crowns that go over my molors [one on the bottom left & right, and one on the top left & right], and those can be seen when I talk. Basically, I really do have a mouth full of metal. And when I smile, I have to put my bottom teeth directly below the top teeth, so my smile is pretty big now. The minimum I’ll have this is 9 months. I’m going into 8th grade.
My question is, guys, if you liked a girl before she had all this metal in, would you still like her afterward?
To understand what I’m going through, put your bottom teeth directly below the top teeth so they are nearly touching. Now imagine that a bulky metal device is holding your teeth in place. You can’t move your teeth side to side at all, only up and down and out.
So that’s what I have for nine months.

If she is great before the braces , she will be great after she gets them……and if the dont like you after you do get them, then they arent worth worrying over……. get new friends……..
