With a tooth implant: is the implant screwed into the hole left by the roots of the pulled tooth?

Question : With a tooth implant: is the implant screwed into the hole left by the roots of the pulled tooth?
Is the implant screwed into the hole left by the roots of the pulled tooth or does the periodontist have to drill deeper into the jawbone?

Additionally: if more bone has to be grafted to the jawbone, where does this bone-graft come from? Is it synthetic?

Also: what are the odds of damaging the mandibular nerve when implanting a lower molar?

Three answers for the price of one! ;-)

1) Not all implants are placed at the time of extraction. While it is possible that an implant fixture placed immediately may be screwed into the extraction socket, the socket has to be exactly where the surgeon wants to put the fixture. It may be necessary to lengthen and shape the socket with a trephine to size it to the fixture being used. It may be necessary to do bone grafting at the same time. I would say that in most of my implant cases, the surgeon has NOT placed the implant at the time of extraction.
2) Bone grafting material can come from a variety of sources. The best source is to use your own bone from somewhere else–but most patients don’t go this route, since it requires a second surgery to remove bone. There are other sources of graft material. Ideally they should be osteogenic–ie: they should stimulate your jawbone to create new bone. Sometimes the surgeon will use demineralized freeze-dried bone (usually cow bone). And sometimes artificial minerals are used–these last do not induce new bone growth but can be mixed with natural graft materials. Often the graft is covered by a membrane that prevents the surface cells from growing down to the graft.
3) If you have a good surgeon, the chances of damaging the inferior alveolar nerve should be very, very small. If there is any doubt about the size, shape, morphology of the jaw, location of the inferior alveolar canal etc. the surgeon should do whatever radiographic studies are necessary so that he/she knows exactly where that nerve is. The most information can be obtained by a CT scan.

Hope this helps,

What happens when your orthodontist refuses to treat but left brackets on teeth?

2

Question : What happens when your orthodontist refuses to treat but left brackets on teeth?
My orthodontist and I got into a disagreement over the progression of my adult braces. Unfortunately, he decided he no longer wanted to treat me, took the wires off my teeth, but left the brackets on. I consulted a lawyer, who basically said that nothing could be done. I don’t have any outstanding payments or anything, and I do have all records from the treatment.

What do I do now though? How do I approach a new orthodontist?

Thanks.

Question : I have a severly herniated L5 disc, cutting off a nerve down my left leg. Will Spinal Decompression work?
So I was diagnosed a few months ago with a herniated L5 disc in my lower back. I dont have time for the physical therapy, and it takes way to long. Do you think Spinal Decompression will work for me?

My husband has this. Unfortunately, all available treatment failed and it continued up his back and he is now completely disabled. If it is already cutting of the sciatic nerve, you are past the point of decompression because the disc itself needs to be able to heal. You’ll want to go see a spine specialist and a neurosurgeon that specializes in the spine. The surgeon is to see if you would benefit from a microdiscectomy or other surgery and the spine clinic is to take care of injections, pain medicine and any other treatments you want. Physical therapy is just one option (one that didn’t work for my husband either – it made him worse). They also have an electrical device that you can get in your back as an option, now. You’ll just have to bring your MRIs to the spine specialist and see what is the best option for you.

my family dentist left me with a lose tooth after beating on it?

Question : my family dentist left me with a lose tooth after beating on it?
My family dentist didin’t finish my tooth extraction, and referred me to an oral surgeon. Is this common? I was left with painful mouth, antibiotics and pain medication while trying to make an appointment with an oral surgeon. It was a horrible experience! Why did he try to pull it to begin with?

Sometimes a dentist will think that he has the abilities to do something that he doesn’t. It could have looked like a normal extraction but when he started working on it he found out that the root was curved around the bone or it was anchored in there better than he thought it was. Or he could just be a crappy dentist. A good dentist would have looked at the x-rays and referred you to the oral surgeon before this painful process began. And if he was a half decent dentist he would have immediately called an oral surgeon’s office and had an appointment made for you to get the job finished. Not made you wait in pain while trying to schedule your own. Not all extractions are created equal but it does sound like this guy doesn’t have the professional courtesy to take care of his patient. Sorry. And I certainly hope there was no charge for that office visit.

Question : How long are drainage tubes left on after a gynecomastia (male breast reduction) surgery?
My friend had breast reduction surgery and the doctor put in some drainage tubes in him. He has had them on for 2 days now, went to the doctor who told him they were clogged, and now he wants him to keep them on for 3 more days. Is this normal? What’s the risk of infection?
Yes, the doctor gave him some medications to take… Thanks for your answers :)

Acne Scar Removal – Get rid of scars left by acne

remove acne scars, are techniques that most people who have acne, very interested to know and see how the methods are emotional. Although prevention is better than cure when it would be a positive method of removing acne scars, it is very encouraging for the most people left by the acne scars.

The scars caused by acne vary from one to another, and some are deep, while others have only superficial scars. Acne scar removal is much depend on how deep they are. There are many possibilities, scars, acne is caused. Some methods are here, presented

The scars are usually deep pits, which are formed in the region of buttons and collagen injections to fill these holes so that the skin is stretched and smoothed. This method can be used for soft scars and superficial as an acne scar removal and is not used for the deepest. Another problem in the treatment of collagen is that it be repeated every few months.

For more scars autogous own fat is a method where the fat is taken from another part of the body and in the scar tissue. Again, as the fat is absorbed by the skin after a year or if the procedure must be repeated.

One of the most effective means of treating scars is dermabrasion. The skin is removed with a brush at high speed, under local anesthesia in the region. However, this can not be used for pimple scars and for people with darker skin because they show changes in the pigmentation of the region. Something similar to dermabrasion is microdermabrasion, which removes the new skin to the surface, but not with brushes, but with high-speed aluminum oxide crystals. This is not very effective in removing scars, they are very shallow.

Remodeling of the scar with laser treatment is another method to remove acne scars. An invasive method of removing scars is surgery of the skin. In this method, the scars are sutured separately and remove the skin or grafted to the holes that formed when the scar is removed, to heal. Skin grafting and surgical removal of keloids is the method most extensive treatment for scars caused by acne.

But once a person realizes that they are suffering from acne, they should prompt treatment and prevention methods instead of left deep scars and disfigurement to start. In this way, it is more likely to heal the scars to complete with much simpler methods. But when the scars have become very deep, it’s always best to help, by a dermatologist, rather than to seek with home remedies. The earlier the treatment started, it will be more effective. So, if you suspect acne Embark always allowed on it and not wait to become a chronic disease of the skin. In this way it will be much easier to deal with the removal of acne scars.
