WASHINGTON – President Bush, in a confrontation with Congress, on Wednesday vetoed a bipartisan bill that would have dramatically expanded children’s health insurance for children in the USA.
It was only the fourth veto of Bush’s presidency, and one that some Republicans feared could carry steep risks for their party in next year’s elections. The Senate approved the bill with enough votes to override the veto, but the margin in the House fell short of the required number.

A health care system that would give it to all our kids would need to be a socialist type like Europe and Canada which doesn’t work too well. It will take time to find a way to keep our system and give everyone coverage. I don’t want to see our health care system turned into Canadas where you have to wait til you’re assigned an MRI even if you desperately need it.
