Question : Has anyone used the summer brand fetal heart monitor?
I am 17 and a half weeks pregnant and I bought the summer brand fetal heart monitor at babies r us today. I tried to use it and heard mostly loud, annoying static and once I got it to quiet down while pressed against my belly i still couldn’t hear much of anything. I am just wondering if anyone else has used this product successfully. I know I am still about 8 weeks early for when they suggest to start using it for best results but I am sort of curious about if it will even work then.

Its not always easy to pick up the heart beat with those things! I’ve got the summer brand monitor and I only got it once.. My baby was also very active and never sat still long enough for me to find the heartbeat.. But it can be tricky to find it and pick it up! Just keep trying! You might eventually have luck!

Did the doctor honor your request?
I had four births without an electronic monitor, but it was difficult to find a place that would allow it.
Statistics show that the electronic monitor does not lower the infant mortality rate, but it triples the c-sec rate. That was why I did not want one.

Nope, i live in Miami and i researched 3 hospitals in the area and they all make you wear a fetal monitor, it sucks but it’s required down here.

Question : How often do you use your fetal heart monitor?
I just recently got a fetal heart monitor (about 4 days ago) I found that I am becoming obsessed with listening to my baby’s heart beat. I listen to it at least twice a day. Is this normal? Ha ha…I’m 6 months, but I worry about him a lot and I want to make sure he is ok.
I listen to it to check what his heart rate is per minute and to make sure he isn’t under any stress. I am a diabetic, so it scares me and that’s why I tend to use it alot.

coming from someone who works in a hospital, i have found that once people understand the monitor and the numbers on it they become obsessed with it. this can sometimes be a bad thing. have there been any problems with your pregnancy to date? if not, then i would try and maybe hook yourself up every two to three days. besides, if something shows up that you don’t exactly understand then all you are going to do is stress yourself out, in turn stressing out your baby until you get to the ob/gyn to find out what the problem is. if there haven’t been any major problems so far, and your doctor doesn’t seem concerned then i would just concentrate on taking care of yourself. in turn, baby will be fine.

Question : I was diagnosed with having fetal demise at 6 weeks pregnant, should I go to an abortion clinic?
The fetus has been deceased for over two weeks & still no signs of miscarriage is happening!!! My doctor is giving me the run around with a D&C so I figured Id go to an abortion clinic! Is this a good idea?
I went to the emergency room they told me to follow up with my doctor and they told me a D&C is exactly the same as an abortion procedure except ur removing a dead fetus instead of a live one!!
Im getting the run around cause my doc doesnt do prenatal care so he has to go through a process of reffering me to an OB then having them make that call but its sooooo stressful & emotionally tough

Get one that is a doppler, not a monitor from the stores. They are basically over glorified amplifiers that won’t pick up a heartbeat until the baby is close to full term. You can rent dopplers form several online companies. I know several women who rented them and swore by them.

Is there anyway to help boost the sound quality (whether listening to it with the headphones or recording with it straight to the pc)?

i found if you turn the volume way down you can still hear ok but there isn’t as much crackling.
