Has anyone here been to an Eating Disorder treatment center?

Question : Has anyone here been to an Eating Disorder treatment center?
I have my first appointment at the a hospital next week and am scared sh*tless. I dealt with bulimia (bingeing/purging) for one year and now go back and forth between exercise bulimia and binge eating. Because I am no longer getting rid of the food I have gained about 20 lbs and I’m scared of facing this head on, dealing with my emotions, all the questions they are sure to ask me, and finding a way out of this. I know this is the right thing for me to do and I’m going to go no matter what but I was hoping someone else had been through this or gotten help from at ED treatment center. I really want to get better, just nervous about what they might ask me.

Thanks :)

i know your scared but try to be calm because they care about you and try to answer honestly. theyll ask you like how you feel and what you think before, during, and after you do it; when did you have these feelings and when did you start; etc.

Book about two girls with eating disorders?

Question : Book about two girls with eating disorders?
There was a book that I read five years ago, whose title I have been trying to remember. I haven’t been able to find it anywhere.

The book was about two girls with eating disorders, one with Anorexia- and the other with Bulimia-Nervosa.

Soon into the book, the two girls were put into a hospital together for treatment of their eating disorders.

The book follows their time in treatment, and also a short time when they are let out.

In the end, the girl with Bulimia is cured, and the girl with Anorexia dies.

Any thoughts would be very helpful. Thanks!

What are the meals in a hospital eating disorder program like?

0

Question : What are the meals in a hospital eating disorder program like?
I am going to be starting an intensive outpatient program for eating disorders. I’ve been on the waiting list for 2 years and I am ready for this support and therapy as I’m totally on my own (26, no family, live with craigslist room-mates), and need professional help to ditch this evil thing forever.

SO when the program begins it will be monday to friday, from 11am-7pm. We will have lunch and dinner there. The meals will be supervised and you have a set amount of time to eat in.

I’m scared. I’ve been bulimic for 3 years now since I was drugged and raped in 2007… and my digestive system is pretty messed up.

I won’t be put on the weight gain meal plan since my BMI is healthy, (19.8– I am 5’7 and 126 lbs)…
so the lady said I will be eating normal, regular meals.

But I don’t know what that means. I don’t eat pork or beef and that began before the eating disorder, simply because I hate the idea of it (antibiotics, chemical feed etc). Will they force me to eat that? Or will they be ok with me eating equivilent calories in some other form of protein, like chicken or fish or beans or tofu?

And how balanced are these meals? Are they horrible, fatty meals? Or normal food-guide style balanced ones, with a protein, starch and vegetable?

fuck im terrified.

Holy crap. 2 years?!? honestly any program that compromises your health for that long worries me. I was told the 2 week wait at one treatment center I was at was long.
The meals are very healthy and balanced. They should definitely accommodate to you not eating red meat.
Be brave, it’s scary but it’s not horrible and helps you get your life back!

Eating disorder treatment renfrew ?

Question : Eating disorder treatment renfrew ?
well tonight i had like a panic attack or something, i really don’t know. i like fell on the ground and like hyperventilated, i was like shaking it was so weird. i was with like a whole group of people, then all of a sudden i couldn’t breathe good, my stomach hurt and my lungs. My body feels like ****. my diagnosis is bulimia but i restrict daily.
i’ve lost like 7 pounds but gained it back, because i binge and purge too. like i don;t even know what it is. bulimia, anorexia? or even an eating disorder at all. i’ve been purging a lot lately, and my body feels like ****. my stomach hurts and i feel bloated. all i think about is food, not eating it or purging whenever i binge. its on my mind 24/7 my parents don’t realize how serious it is. so it makes me think it’s not serious. I can’t concentrate in school, i get trembles and i can just feel my body breaking down, but i can’t stop. my friend suggests i go to renfrew to go stay there for a little while – residential treatment.
im 5’0, 14 years, and 90lbss.
i’m not anorexic skinny so i don’t know if i should go there, or even think about it. i mean i guess theres no help for me because this nutritionist and therapy isnt helping, its honestly making things worst and wasting my dads money.

If your parents are paying for a therapist and nutritionist, they are aware that there is a problem.

Need to sit down and discuss this with your parents who can help you decide how best to proceed. When they try to minimize what it is you are telling them, need to get their attention, look them in the eye and tell the truth so they get the picture. Parents do have a tendency to be in denial about their kids when they don’t know what to do. Been there, done that with my own kids.

Your passing out is reason for concern, as is your awareness of your eating issues. You don’t feel well, your stomach and lungs hurt, potentially from purging. I would want to know this about my child.

Good luck……..

eating disorder rehabilitation

shanlarter.com Hey! Thanks for stopping by for another video in my “Eating Disorder Rehab” SMOOTHIE SERIES where I share some of my FAVOURITE smoothies with you that were such a powerful and healing part of my own Eating Disorder Rehab. Confused over the word “antioxidant”? Hear it everywhere and wonder what the heck is the big deal about antioxidants anyway? Well here are a few points to clear the mental fog (LITERALLY!) – Antioxidants is really just a fancy term for “vitamins and minerals that combat free-radicals” – Some well known antioxidants are Vitamin A, Vitamin B-6, Vitamin B-12, Beta carotene, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Selenium, Folic Acid. – Some powerful fruit sources of antioxidants are: prunes, raisins, blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, raspberries, plums, oranges, apples, red grapes and cherries. – Some powerful veggie sources of antioxidants are: kale, spinach, Brussels sprouts, broccoli florets, beets, onions. – Its important to combat free radicals because most scientists believe that: free radicals are responsible for weakened immune systems, arthritis, heart trouble, stroke, cancer, and even wrinkled dry skin. Many researchers are proving the link between basic ageing and low antioxidant levels as a ’cause and effect relationship’ suggesting that we can slow down the ageing clock LITERALLY just by eating hefty amounts of antioxidants in our daily food intake. – the BEST source of antioxidants is fresh, uncooked, organic fruits and veggies. Even many

Question : How do i fight treatment for an eating disorder? can i? i’m 17?
my doctor advised that i be transfered to inpatient treatment after an unsuccessful outpatient treatment for an eating disorder.
i feel that i could change on my own and have told them. also, i personally think it’s none of their business- i’m not dying. how can i get out of treatment? as a 17 year old, do I have any rights?

If outpatient treatment is not working, then you need inpatient to save your life and put a halt on this eating disorder before you do any more serious damage to your body.
You can’t change on your own–you admitted that outpatient is not working.

It is your doctor’s business–in fact he/she is legally bound to help you. Doctors are sued all the time for ‘not’ treating their patient to the best of their ability.
People care and that is why they want you to get well and be healthy .
It is more than changing the compulsive behaviour–it is getting to the root of the problem–the things that have caused the disorder–and dealing with that.

If you have ever been in an inpatient treatment CENTER, and, OR amited to the hsptl for longer then the day, (for an eating dosorder) please tell me everything you know about it!

Answer by no name please
im currently struggling with anorexia. and this is what my therapist told me what it would be like:force feed you and if you throw up they will just feed you again;if needed watched 24/7;not even allowed to go to the bathroom alone because you might start exercising. it just depends on what hospital or inpatient program you go through, but whatever one you go to yes they will force you to eat. good luck! hope this helps! :)

There isn’t a published price list you can go to. It all depends upon the facility, the length of the stay, the treatment provided, the severity of the disorder, and probably 100 other things I can’t think of.

Check with a medical insurance company to see what they typically cover.
