Question : For treatment of migraine and nueorological diagnosis?
Christian medical college(Vellore) and NIMHANS(Bangalore), which of these two institutes are better for the treatment of migraine and diagnosis of some other neurological disorders?The patient has been already diagnosed with migraine,would like to obtain treatment for it,please suggest which institute is better?CMC Vellore or NIMHANS Bangalore?I would like to have suggestions regarding some other medical institutes or organisations,that are renouned for this kind of treatment,provided it is in India.

These are both good hospitals so I can’t really say. But I do know that NIMHANS is supposed to be THE neurological place in India. However, ultimately I think it is not so much which hospital you must choose but which doctor. Try to ask around and see who is a highly recommended and experienced doctor in this field. (Sorry but I don’t know more than that .. )

Question : I need a diagnosis… eating and exercise? help!?
Right, basically, i have to ask random people about this because my friends are no help whatsoever. In the past year i have lost 4 stone… im now 5 ft 10 and i weight 9 st 6. I know that im not fat. I did it all healthily at first. I ate proper meals. I felt happy. Watched the fat in everything and went to the gym every day doing either cardio or weights… without fail. Only the past 3 months id say, i think my head is going the wrong way.
I make myself wake up every day at 6am, to get to the gym for when it opens, and until the calorie burner on the treadmill says 750 calories i dont get off. I calorie count EVERYTHING. I will eat two special K bars for breakfast, porridge or toast for lunch and a bowl of salad or brocolli for tea. I dont snack. I constantly find myself chewing gum, i smoke loads more than i used to. I feel crap in myself. I constantly look in the mirror and breathe in so that I can see bones. If i go a few days without going to the gym, i actually feel obese. I feel unhappy constantly. If i dont get up early and go to the gym, it will be on my mind until i finally decide to go… im constantly tired aswell. The only time im happy, is when the weekdays are over and i know that I can go out with my friends. I will go out on a saturday night, and get drunk, usually ending up in me not remembering the night whatsoever, then i will wake up on a sunday and eat like a footlong subway (but a healthy one :S) and then feel like absolute crap after eating it cause i feel like ive just had a total binge. I hate making myself look good in the week. I will just chuck on my gym kit to go into uni every day, just to make me feel better, even if i dont actually end up going to the gym. I hate the fact its got like this. I will also take pictures of my body on my phone every week if i feel fat, just to see what i look like. Then the next week ill look at them and think ‘sh*t ive put on loads of weight in a week’… im tired and i keep buying sugar free redbulls thinking they will wake me up, but they actually just make me more tired.
I wouldnt class myself as having an eating disorder though. I personally look at myself and dont think im ‘skinny’ … i just wish i wasnt in this situation. grrr… i dont know… i guess i just want an outsiders opinion on what they see…
My motivation used to be so high for going to run on a treadmill at the gym. Now i just feel like its a chore i have to fulfil every day. otherwise ill just be a mess

Congratulations! My mother is currently going through chemo after her 5th cancer diagnoses in 12 years. Breast twice, lung, bone, and now liver. There IS a light after the treatments and life can, and will, continue. Good luck to you both!

A person who presents with a genital ulcer should be tested for Herpes.

This individual has a dual diagnosis of General anxiety disorder and an Eating disorder. Does that person have any rights? This person isn’t severely affected nor in danger of thier self or others.

Yes, they can refuse & yes they do have rights. Even in the hospital setting a patient has rights, they can refuse their medication & it would take a special court order to determine if the hospital staff must force the patient to take their medication.
As long as this person is not in danger to themselves or others they can go merrily on their happy way without being forced to take medication.
The laws change when the above criteria changes.

It’s not just about the BMI. They also really look at eating and exercise habits and other physical symptoms related with some eating disorders. People who are anorexic are often underweight, yes, but they also may be losing hair, have a downy fluff on their bodies, be very pale, and may also suffer from depression or be OCD. Bulimics may or may not be underweight; in fact, some may be overweight. They may have scratches on their knuckles or a lack of enamel on their teeth. The veins in their eyes may be messed up. They might have throat issues. They may also suffer from depression or have OCD. Generally people with any kind of eating disorder tend to have heart problems.
But the best way of diagnosing an eating disorder is to look beyond the BMI and really look at eating and exercise habits.
