The only thing different in my mans diet since being diagnosed w/diabetes are his pills. Why won’t he comply?
3Question : The only thing different in my mans diet since being diagnosed w/diabetes are his pills. Why won’t he comply?
He will not improve his diet. He eats what he wants when he wants. Because his sugar is pretty good, I think he thinks he doesn’t need to change his lifestyle. I quit trying to help. Asking, helping, pleading, crying didn’t do it , so I gave it all back to him and told him once he owned the disease than he could change. The fighting has ceased but that’s about it. Help! HIs dad died from complications of diabetes.

Sounds like he’s in denial. This happens. If he won’t help himself looks like you have to give him the right foods to eat whenever you can. I know it’s like having a little kid all over again. He’s gonna have to talk to a dietitian or nutritionist. If nothing else, he’s gonna have to learn the hard way.

Well, I was Type 2 Diabetic prior to getting pregnant and am now insulin dependent thanks to the baby. My doc told me that although Glucerna is supposed to help control your sugars, it really isn’t effective. If you check the boxes, you’ll see Carbs + Sugars are quite high. Cheerios has a better reaction for diabetics!
I just think it’s an overpriced “specialty” brand that’s trying to cash in on the Diabetic Nation. I stick with my grilled chicken, fruits, nuts, seafood, etc…If you eat cereal, make sure it’s nearly sugar free. I use bananas or strawberries to sweeten it.
Can being prescribed a steroidal inhaler for a sinus infection be a disqualifier for the Military?
2Question : Can being prescribed a steroidal inhaler for a sinus infection be a disqualifier for the Military?
I had a really bad sinus infection and was prescribed a steroidal inhaler. Can being prescribed an inhaler be an automatic DQ? I dont think so, but I just want to put some worries to rest. I’ve been really touchy about my medical history due to pediatric asthma from the age of five to eight (well before the cut off age of 12) I’m kind of a neurotic, but I just want to be sure.

Been there done that, so sure…you can email me anytime. I’ll do my best to answer honestly any question you have. I had an eating disorder for 16 years, I’ve been recovered for 11 years.
Deciding to go inpatient is a personal choice, and a medical one. Life threatening situations oftentimes demand it, however it is my belief that inpatient eating disorder facilities should be pleasant, compassionate and have a full medical, dietary, and counseling team that have been fully trained in the illness. Ask questions and demand answers. Don’t be afraid to call around the nation.
Good questions to ask:
1. Where are you located?
2. Do you take insurance?
3. How much is the cost?
4. How long is the average stay?
5. Do you have a brochure?
6. How large is the facility?
7. How many staff members are there?
9. What is the ratio of staff to patients?
10. How many drs, dieticians, and clinicians do you have?
11. Is the staff trained/certified in eating disorders?
12. Will there be one-on-one counseling with drs, dieticians, and clinicians?
13. Will there be group therapy?
14. What methods are used for eating?
15. Is punishment used when an individual does not eat?
16. Will there be arrangements for continuing outpatient treatment?
17. Are you accredited ie. by the Joint Commission?
Good luck in your endeavors and email me anytime.
Can stress cause symptoms similar to those of being pregnant?
2Question : Can stress cause symptoms similar to those of being pregnant?
I had my last period and it was normal, but I have been having sore breasts, back pain, fatigue, and more frequent urination 1 week later. Unless the condom broke without me knowing, I should not be pregnant. I do however know these symptoms can mean pregnancy. I am really stressed out about lots of things right now…could this be causing the same type of symptoms?
Furthermore, has anyone else had a scare like this and then it ends up it was just stress?

My doctor defines infertility as 6 months or more of ttc without conceiving.
The blood work and ultrasound was to check for PCOS (which I actually found out that I have). You’re lucky to not have it!
There must be another reason for your infertility – which is why you’re being sent to the experts!
They will probably undertake more tests (e.g. check to see if your tubes are blocked) and your partner will undergo sperm testing to see if it’s his infertility that is the problem.
Don’t feel too daunted. It’s far better to get the ball rolling now, rather than wait 2 years and then start investigating why you aren’t pregnant.
This way you are in control. You are doing the right thing and finding out what the problem is and then you can work out how to address it.
Also, infertility is TREATABLE in most cases. It’s not permanent.
All the best
Best of luck!
