If you don’t mind living on the west side of the country, I would recommend Arizona State University. It has one of the largest teacher preparation programs in the US, and was originally founded in the late 1800′s as a teachers college. The Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College at ASU is one of the most innovative schools in America. They’re always trying new things, and really work to make the best prepared teachers before they graduate!

I have been working for the college for 2 years while working on my bachelor’s degree for secondary education, and couldn’t be happier with the school. You have the option of getting certified for special education K-12 and elementary education 1-8 at the same time; you’ll still graduate in 4 years, but you’ll have 2 teaching certificates instead of just one (don’t worry-it’s not any more work than just getting one certificate). There is also a graduate program specifically for special education of students with autism.

Here’s the website if you want to know more information:

http://education.asu.edu/

Or you can call an undergraduate advisor with specific questions:
Lacey Prokop: (480) 965-5555
Liz Langowski: (602) 496-2046
Jackie Chamberlain: (602) 543-6354

Best of luck in choosing the college that’s right for you!

Fertility drugs and tie autism planned two years earlier

Terence Mix

Santa Barbara, CA (openPR) 23 September 2010

20 May 2010, reported researchers at the Harvard School of Public Health, the results of a study in which they found that women who have fertility used drugs to have been pregnant almost double the risk of having a child with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) as non-users. The drugs were tested Clomid (clomiphene citrate) and Pergonal (gonadotropin). It was immediately picked up by the secular media, with many expressing shock and skepticism. But for the lawyer Terence mix, it was no surprise at all a? He predicted more than two years earlier. â? I studied medicine for 35 years, â? Mix said â? and all this makes biological sense once I put the pieces together.â ????

Mixa

? Book, The Price of ovulation, even if it was formally published in 2009, more than a year ago concluded. â? The key that connected all the pieces together â? A mix said? has a cholesterol level? or absence of a? to be more precise. More than 58% of children with autism have a low total cholesterol? less than 160 â? and 19% of very low total cholesterol. About one in five children with autism have a total cholesterol below 100.â?

What more convincing mix was something he learned about children born with the syndrome of Smith-Lemli-Opitz or ALS. These children are born with a defective enzyme that interferes with bodyâ? Ability to produce cholesterol. This condition leads to a variety of birth defects, but noted that about 70-85% of them are born with autism mix. â? In my head, â? he said, â? It was almost inevitable that low cholesterol in early pregnancy was at least one of the causes of ASD. We also know that cholesterol is important for the growth of myelin membranes and the brain abnormalities are in the myelin sheath as a cause of ASD.â? For this reason, many experts believe that the cholesterol level is low during early embryonic development one of the reasons for this state, “said Mix.

But as he has with the fertility drugs out? â? When I read the research about how cholesterol can affect saw the formation of our body during pregnancy, it was a breathtaking moment I will never forget. This moment, which in my book, one is detected? He points out, â? has it all together for me.â? Clomid has a long half-life and remains in the body over a month, “says Mix. Â? Studies have shown that it accumulates over several cycles of treatment, and in the Harvard study found that the higher the fertility drug, the greater the risk of developing ASD.â? He states, â? It is another piece p> puzzle.â ???? tires to the mix was something that he Clomid for over a decade was, but he has a little weight? The drug is an inhibitor of cholesterol, as Lipitor and other statins. Its chemical structure is similar to the cholesterol-lowering drug, triparanol, which was briefly available in the 1960s. â? It was perfect, â? Mix said. â? Clomid disabled cholesterol production in the first 4-6 weeks of pregnancy, which has a number of abnormalities have an impact on the problem of the myelin sheath of the brain, which disorder.â autism spectrum? ? ?

Pergonal also reduces cholesterol, “said Mix, but by its ability to increase production of estrogen. Studies have shown that following ovarian hyperstimulation by Pergonal, estrogen, the resulting high total cholesterol suppressed. â? Both drugs have the potential to deprive the unborn child is a vital need for cholesterol during a critical period of development, â € Mix says. are â? result, many born with some birth defects and other> ASD.â ????

ovulation rates, which has won seven national book prize has something to offer that is far more benefits than a prediction of the relationship between infertility drugs and cons of autism, notes the lawyers. Included in the book are years of research, that a way to eliminate a number of abnormalities and cholesterol-deficient ASD can. â? The key is to maintain a good level of cholesterol in pregnancy, â? Mix said. â? The animal studies cited in the book have demonstrated the feasibility of this, even in the presence of a cholesterol-lowering drug. This would enable the women fertility drugs and reduce the risk of birth defects and ASD could be caused by these drugs. All that remains to be done, are the human clinical trials, determine a desirable level of cholesterol.â? He added: â? Maybe someday in the near future, we can show to another prediction of the book. It would certainly be the 35, all worthwhile.â? www.terencemix.com.
