If you don’t mind living on the west side of the country, I would recommend Arizona State University. It has one of the largest teacher preparation programs in the US, and was originally founded in the late 1800′s as a teachers college. The Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College at ASU is one of the most innovative schools in America. They’re always trying new things, and really work to make the best prepared teachers before they graduate!

I have been working for the college for 2 years while working on my bachelor’s degree for secondary education, and couldn’t be happier with the school. You have the option of getting certified for special education K-12 and elementary education 1-8 at the same time; you’ll still graduate in 4 years, but you’ll have 2 teaching certificates instead of just one (don’t worry-it’s not any more work than just getting one certificate).
