How do cardic defibrillator’s affect quality of life, ability to work?
Question : How do cardic defibrillator’s affect quality of life, ability to work?
My brother who is not yet 40 just had quadruple bypass surgery, and the Dr’s then decided it would be best for him to also have an ICD or cadiac defibrillator. I am wondering about his quality of life with the ICD and on his chances of returning to work. He has always done fast food, or hard labor. Has anyone else experienced this, and if so, do you feel better since or not?

This happend to my uncle. His chances of returning to work are so so. I suggest he gets this ICD though.
the implantable defibrillator will improve his quality of life, imagine a paramedic on duty 24/7. He won’t need to worry, less worry =quality of life. Will safeguard against irregular heart rates. He will need time to recovery from the bypass surgery. The decision will be up to the cardiologist if your brother will be able to return to work. Perhaps something that is less strenuous. He will have watch his diet, no fat and less/no sodium. I have a heart failure pacemaker/defibrillator (4th). Truly a lifesaver.
