Question : what can cause extreme weight loss in a teenager?
my daughter has lost 18lbs in the last 2 months and now weighs only 106lbs at 5ft4inches this concerns me greatly and we went to the Dr,an had her tested for diabetes and hyperthyrodism both test came back negative.the dr did’nt seem concerned about her weight loss but we are.she does’nt do drugs and wont even take asprin or pills at all.i’m greatly concerned for her health please help if you have any idea’s as to why she is losing so much weight in such a short period of time.

Lisa , Firstly let me say, do not listen to the previous two answers and DO NOT click that link it is a Virus.
Now i am a teenager myself – wish i could loose 18lbs in 2 months haha – and a student nurse. I wouldn’t worry about your daughter too much it may be a phase in puberty, if you follow her dietry intake by possibly giving her a lunch to school with her and watching how she eats at home, If she has suffered from traumatic – mild or other wise events in her life it may be due to that – or simply she may be loosing weight due to stress or anxiety.
Personaly i wouldn’t worry – i would plot her weight for a few weeks, and see any changes if so take her to your local GP/Doctor for information. - Comment Feed for this Post
