Question : How do i fight treatment for an eating disorder? can i? i’m 17?
my doctor advised that i be transfered to inpatient treatment after an unsuccessful outpatient treatment for an eating disorder.
i feel that i could change on my own and have told them. also, i personally think it’s none of their business- i’m not dying. how can i get out of treatment? as a 17 year old, do I have any rights?

If outpatient treatment is not working, then you need inpatient to save your life and put a halt on this eating disorder before you do any more serious damage to your body.
You can’t change on your own–you admitted that outpatient is not working.
It is your doctor’s business–in fact he/she is legally bound to help you. Doctors are sued all the time for ‘not’ treating their patient to the best of their ability.
People care and that is why they want you to get well and be healthy .
It is more than changing the compulsive behaviour–it is getting to the root of the problem–the things that have caused the disorder–and dealing with that.
You should go to in patient while your still mentally healthy enough to get well, eds warp your mind and the deeper you get into it the worse it gets, you might not be dying now but you will soon become addicted to the decreasing numbers on the scale, and before you know it you will be a shell of the person you are now….My cousin Kylie died from ana, and if you dont want death to be your future do something now while you still have your mind to yourself…
