Joules are measurements of work, volts are measurements of electrical potential. Asking how many volts an AED uses is about like asking how many quarts your TV is.
The battery pack in a modern AED is generally a 9vdc pack, but by the time it is ready to go through the pads, it has been ramped up to closer to 1,000 volts… but the voltage is not doing the work- that is not the useful number to pay attention to.
