Do you think it’s best to take up a Medical Assistant program at a junior college or a technical school?
Question : Do you think it’s best to take up a Medical Assistant program at a junior college or a technical school?
The reason why I ask this question is because I posted a question up a few minutes ago on yahoo answers about spending $ 13,000 to go to school to become a MA and alot of people from yahoo answers told me that paying $ 13,000 for a Medical Assistant program is a rip off. I feel like this school is my only other option. All of the community colleges here where I live offer this program in daytime when I have to be at work, and I can’t afford to quit my job. Can anyone else offer me some advice on what I should do?

Going to a CC would save LOTS OF MONEY. I attended one when I was a fresh/soph and saved about 80% on tuition for the same classes (your basics). I grad. with my BA Psych and would always reccomend CC to anyone. They are more realistic and down to earth in how they treat students
HI,
I was a Medical Assistant for 28 years. There are still many offices that offer entry level training.
Try and find these types of opening. Pick a doctor’s specialty that you like or can handle. For instance, working for a hematologist who deals with a majority of cancer patients is not uplifting. I do think this specialty requires a R.N. degree.
Calling offices to see if there is an opening is fruitless. Find jobs thru the classified ads.
Entry level will save you thousands of $ and also put you in the middle of things, so you can determine if this job is for you. Do you know how many people complete courses and get into a field to find they HATE it? And they spend thousands to find that out. You just want to get started, but waiting a little while longer and checking out possibilities may be wiser.
GOOD LUCK……….
