Wahh..you poor thing..
I’m sure you’ll be okey..
At least you’ll cope with your eating disorder problem..
this summer, i was hospitalized inpatient for three weeks, and then sent to an outpatient center for a further month or two, so i have some experience with eating disorder centers. in my experience, their first objective is to make you gain weight if you’re underweight. the hospital i was at would not release me until i was at 80% of my ideal weight. in order to increase your weight if you are severely underweight, you may be forced to have only protein shakes for the first few days in order to monitor you for refeeding syndrome. after that, you will take supervised meals with other eating disorder patients. i was forced to eat 4000 calories per day (but every center is different, and where you’re going, you probably won’t be forced to eat as much per day as i was), and mealtimes are usually limited to a 1/2 hour, while snacks are usually limited to fifteen minutes. if you are unable to finish your food, you will be forced to have a protein shake or get tubed. there are also some rules surrounding the mealtimes, but these rules are different according to where you’re going.
you will not be allowed any exercise and you will be strictly monitored, especially for the first few days. also, you will usually not be allowed to use the bathroom for a certain period of time after meals. usually, as you spend more time at the center, they allow you more privileges, and some have levels which you can graduate to according to your behavior.
each the day, you will probably have a nutritionist appointment, a meeting with the doctors, a group therapy session, an individual therapy session, music or art therapy, and a therapy session in which you focus on ways to deal with things like eating disorder ‘triggers’ and you address the issues behind your eating disorder.
also, you will be weighed each morning, and have blood pressure and heart rate taken, and possibly blood tests.
good luck, and if you have any more questions, you can email me at laurel117@gmail.com
