Is certification required to be a medical assistant in new york state?
Question : Is certification required to be a medical assistant in new york state?
I know some employers say they want only certified or experienced people to apply, but is it actual law that medical assistants must have certification? if you have some kind of proof one way or another from a website, that’d be great, thanks.
I want actual proof that it is required, b/c I don’t think that it is. I’ve seen ads in the paper for medical assistants that say “will train”.

Yes you do need a certification, for one most employers wont even consider you without one. Also, even with one you will need
at least one year experience for most employers.
Is certification required? No. However, national certification is available for medical assistants. Certification means a professional edge. It means greater prestige among peers and employers. It also means better job security and greater career advancement opportunities.
