How Can There Be People Pro-Anorexia?
Question : How Can There Be People Pro-Anorexia?
I thought it wasn’t true but on a simple Google search I found that there are many sites of groups that are pro-anorexia and encourage one another to be anorexic. They argue that anorexia is a lifestyle choice.
Can the world get any crazier?

I am bulimic, and on my way to anorexic (EDNOS, but mainly the same ideas)… and I am an active member in the pro ana mia community. Just to explain it a bit – we don’t sit there and think of ways to make it more appealing, not recruting, we are all just there to support each other with our struggles. I know it is crazy and insane, but that is why we are like this in the first place. We don’t have anyone else to turn too, so we get lost in our eating disorders. I don’t know what I would do if I didn’t have them to turn to, as weird as that sounds. it is comforting and scary and painful to know that people are going through the same thing as you, sometimes worse… and all you want is someone to lean on who has been there and ‘done that’ – just so we can ‘keep on truckin’

They argue in their defense because their brain is warped. I mean that seriously there is something wrong in their brain functioning telling them that they are fat and that they have to do all these crazy things to be skinny. Usually something in their past triggers these things, it is a control thing.
No one in their right and healthy mind would think it was a lifesyle choice to suffer a slow death.
EDIT: barbie nicole…..I can understand a support group but why call it “PRO ana mia?” That makes it sound like you are in support of anorexia.

Yes there are many pro-anorexia sites…And if people want to argue that is a lifestyle choice, let them. They are the ones who will have serious health problems, and might die.
Also, yes. The world can get crazier=o/
EDIT: To Barbie Nicolle and the chick underneath her…
You don’t have anyone to turn to, so you are an anorexic and also belimic? I am sorry, that just sounds like you are trying to put people on guilt trips for your own personal problems. I would think that if you were struggling with an EATING disorder, you would seek help from a PROFESSIONAL to make yourself, as a person, better. Having someone there who is battling the same thing as you (while you are getting help) is one thing, but to join a pro ana/mia group is another. That is like being pro smoking crack, or pro blowing your brains out. It’s a shame because a lot of young girls are actually looking up to people who are thin, and end up starving themselves. I hope the both of you seek the help that you need…( not from an pro ana/mia group either.) -

well you see i struggle with anorexia. In my searching of the web for ways to get beetter and information about the disease i have come across many of these websites. IU believe that they only do that sort of stuff to get attention and they are glad to have it. They want to be noticed. What they do not realize is that it is indeed a DISEASE and not a LIFESTYLE and they could indeed die.
