Review by Alexis for Philosophy Completely Clear Skin System ($53 Value) Completely Clear Skin System
Rating:
I decided to try this skin care regimen from using Bliss Youth As We Know it because I think the Bliss products were too heavy for my 26 year old skin.
Major drawback: When I opened the Retinol moisturizer (you have to pierce through the lid with the top kind of like a prescription cream) it burst all over the place spewing out at least 2 days worth of cream. I could not get the cream back in the metal tube, what a waste. And this tube is teeny-tiny.
The back of every Philosophy bottle says “Use everyday if tolerated” which worried me, but I wanted to try it anyway since I don’t have sensitive skin, I figured I would be fine.
There are no directions as to usage. Do I use the All-Over Acne Treatment every day? Can I use it under the Retinol moisturizer? I don’t know and I can’t tell you.
The Cleanser:
This dried out my skin worse than any other product I’ve used. However, after using the Retinol moisturizer my skin felt hydrated and not so tight.
Retinol Moisturizer:
Very hydrating and smooth. Did not make my skin greasy.
Acne Spot Treatment:
I used this product twice and it seemed to keep a couple up-and-coming zits at bay. Did not dry out my skin nor did I see any redness.
All Over Acne Treatment:
I used this only once. I couldn’t tell you the difference between the Spot treatment and the All Over treatment. They are both the same consistency and color.
I used this kit for 4 days and on the 4th day I washed my face in the morning and by the time I was done in the shower and to my make up mirror my face was red and splotchy. It looked as if I had a bad tanning experience or I got some sort of Derma-Peel that went terribly, terribly wrong. After that I packed up the kit and I am in the process of sending it back. I was really surprised by this because I do not have sensitive skin, I can basically put anything on it and I’m fine.
I have since switched back to Bliss’ Youth As We Know It and now when I use the products on my under-eye area it stings. I’m pretty sure it’s due to using the Philosophy products. I will not be purchasing this EVER again.
