I bought this Breathalyzer because I wanted to get a “rough” estimate on what my BAC might be before I step behind the wheel of a car. I am aware that this device is not suposed to be used as a method of determining whether someone is able to drive or not, but I do believe that the results seem to be radically high at times. Before I begin the night, I use the breathalyzer (20 min after the last time I eat or drink any fluids [non-alcoholic]) to see if it will register a 0.00. The 10+ times I have done this, it has registered correctly. I also tested it when I first bought it, by drinking two 12 oz. light beers in 40 min, then waiting 20 min to see what my BAC would registered. I registered three attempts in a row to confirm the results, and the results were 0.06, 0.07, and 0.06. Those results seemed correct to me, even though I don’t have any other information to base those results on. So far so good!
The problem seems to start when I consume “non-light” beers and maybe a few mix drinks over an entire night. One night I registered a 0.37 after having 6 beers and two mix drinks (2 shots a peice) over a 6 hour period. From what I know about drinking and the effects on the body, I beleive that result was way above what is should have been. This same thing happened when I consumed only 2 glasses of wine in 3 hours. I waited well over 20 min, close to an hour, and registered a 0.30.
I guess you get what you pay for, but for the most part this thing seems to get the job done. I just would NOT rely on it 100% when deciding to get behind the wheel of a car. I hope this help!

I have used this breathalyzer about 50 times with over 20 different people at parties. Even when people wait 30 minutes after drinking to use it as instructed by the manual, it gives a highly inaccurate reading. This breathalyzer easily measures 0.1 BAC too high during every use. -

I really hope I received a defective unit. I used this thing right out of the box completely sober. It registered as a .02 bac. I used it about an hour later and to my surprise it actually worked. I blew a .00 bac. Later I tested it and blew a .08. The next day I had one drink…waited about an hour and it registered me having a .22 bac. Unbelievable! Other than the fact that this thing absolutely doesn’t work, it does have a nice slim design. That is it! Will RMA and update. -

I received the S30 and tried it out after a couple of drinks and wine, over 4 hours, at home. Waited the 30 minutes and blew a .315, which is supposed to be “unconcious”. The next day, after a 22 oz. beer and my wife had one glass of wine, after waiting about 30 minutes, I blew 0.00 and my wife .06. This aparatus is not accurate at all. When I wanted to return it to the Amazon vendor – Ace Photo Digital, they refused the return for sanitary reasons. Don’t buy this item but try an upgrade as you will be stuck with it if you try it and get the same results I did.

This breathalyzer is so inaccurate it’s not funny. It read 0.00 when I hadn’t had a drop of alcohol but once I took a sip or two, it read .14 or .16 or .40. Just off the charts. Definitely not worth purchasing. Thought it would be good to have and come in handy but just simply didn’t work. I returned it.
