Obviously I would have rather tried proactive, but money being short I tried this instead.
In two days, my skin was totally cleared up. In four, it felt better and looked better than it had in years. I have adult acne that just appeared when I got pregnant and doesn’t seem to want to go away, so this has been really helpful. THough I agree that my lotion was gritty, which I didn’t like, and doesn’t feel very moist…. my skin looks so much better I’m not going to complain about it. Yeah, it bleaches out my towel. So I got a towel to use just for that. No big deal.
I totally reccommend this product, as long as you don’t have dry or sensitive skin. It’s awesome! -

I am writing to thank everyone who posted their experiences here. As an adult acne sufferer it is easy to become hopeless- even when you’re starting to see changes but they aren’t coming fast enough. In this case, I needed encouragement to be patient and wait for the changes that were in store. I’ve been using Acnefree every day for the last month. I first came across a bottle left over in the shower at my gym. I used it because it listed benzoyl peroxide which is the only acne med that works (trust me, I’ve used them ALL) and tea tree oil in the ingredients. I had recently started applying pure tea tree oil to my face and felt the combination would be ideal. I can’t tell you how surprised I was to come across the formulation so randomly. My was much less greasy after using the product so I bought the 3-step kit.It did not work in three days to eliminate my acne but I could immediately appreciate an improvement in the feel of my skin. It felt cleaner and wasn’t greasy. That in itself was a miracle since in addition to spending hundreds of dollars on acne meds, I’ve probably laid out the same amount on blot sheets, mattifying lotions, etc. I did break out more in the first couple of weeks but, thanks to the words I read on this and other websites, I didn’t give up on the system. Apparently, this product sucks the bacteria from deep in your skin to the surface so it can be removed. I have some photos of my cheeks in the past two weeks looking worse than they have in a long time so I believe this is true.
Now, however, I can truly say that I’ve turned the corner. My face is smooth. The hard, painful bumps that emerged in the past two weeks are totally gone. Even though I am just using this kit and not the fade cream, the marks on my face are visibly lighter. I have not had a new whitehead in few days. The driness (which wasn’t excessive) over the past month has been totally worth it because it has revealed beautiful new skin. I am so grateful to have found this product after a decade of daily self-consciousness about my skin, wondering if a new whitehead had emerged since I last checked, wiping oil from my forehead several times a day, desperately researching cures that all failed, and worrying every time I met a guy what he’d think when my foundation was off- finally, I’m free.
I have a few notes about application. I also bought the Terminator to deal with the new bumps that came up. It didn’t offer an instant fix but it probably helped and was cheap enough at Target that it wasn’t a burden to add to the regimen. I tried putting on tons of the product, as suggested on acne.org. That did not seem to make an appreciable difference. Acnefree works in its time, and I couldn’t accelerate it, but it did work. Also, I’ve seen people post here that they do not use a cotton swab to apply the repairing lotion. I switched to using one because it helps exfoliate the skin. You can actually see dead skin cells coming off as the lotion is going on and I found when I didn’t do this, my cheeks felt rough and looked darker. Lastly, I truly believe this product works all day as advertised. With other acne meds, I would put them on under my makeup and find that I usually had a whitehead by the end of the day. This product keeps my skin feeling extremely fresh all day long and seems to be having an antibacterial effect that prevents new breakouts during the day. My makeup also looks great when my skin is so clear and non-greasy.
I’m writing this out of a true sense of compassion for everyone who suffers with acne. Try this product. Stick with it because it will work eventually. And, as someone who has finally woken up with beautiful skin after trying desperately to achieve this for ten years, I can tell you it feels great.

I just bought this product a few days ago but I wanted to address some of the complaints brought up in the reviews here.I do want to say that after using it for two days I have already noticed that my skin is more calm and clean. It feels better and it actually looks better. I am 30 years old and have been breaking out more now than when I was 16! I was going to order the Proactive stuff but frankly, dont have that kind of money right now. So when I saw this I decided to give it a shot. Like I said, its only been two days so I cant give a detailed review but from just the last two days I can tell you I have already noticed a difference in my skin.
Now..I want to address the issue of the product messing up clothes. It clearly states on the box or bottles that it can bleach facial hair and clothes. I didnt think anyone would be washing their face wearing their everyday clothes but since its a warning on the bottle and I am assuming everyone would read the instructions, directions, and warnings before using it then everyone should take the precautions to keep this from happening.
Secondly, the issue of the lotion being gritty and the face wash not. Well, maybe your product was old or something. I just bought this a few days ago and my face wash is SLIGHTLY gritty and the lotion doesnt have a bit of grit in it. It is very smooth and calming and refreshing. So I would make sure you didnt get a product that was out of date or something.
I have VERY sensitive skin so I am always leary of products like this because more often than not they dry out my skin, turn it red and I break out even worse than before. I havent had a bit of drying, redness or anything else. No new acne, no greasy skin, no problem with my clothes being bleached. I am glad there is no foul smell to the products. Even the toner doesnt burn like some I have tried do. I have tried more expensive products in the past and they only burned, dried out my skin and didnt not for my acne.
I have hope for this product and if it clears up my skin then it will definately be money well spent. I will keep everyone posted. LOL!

When I was in my teens I had minimal acne. My life has been pretty stressful for someone in her mid 20′s and a few years back I noticed that my blemishes were getting considerably worse.I have been to Dermatologists, have pills, have retin A, and have tried numerous organic methods, and even cut dairy, spicy food, and excessive sugars from my diet. Short lived results that didn’t last. Even Proactive didn’t work!! (never went on Accutane, afraid of the side effects)
I have only been using this system for a short while and would assume that, like any other acne product if it works then it will clear up your face initially and you will see more blemishes come (as your skin clears out all of the gunk) before you see the light at the end of the tunnel.
I was shopping at Bed Bath & Beyond for pillowcases (I like to change them out every couple days) and various other things and laughed when I saw a little $1 sample with three bottles that said “you will see results in less than 3 days guaranteed.” This made me laugh and honestly I thought why the heck not. Not that getting the $1 back would be a big priority but I thought what a crazy claim.
I’m an internet junkie when it comes to products and I love reading other users reviews before purchasing something. So… with that in mind I didn’t want to read anything about the product until I had been using it for a couple of weeks. (Wanted to remain positive). After reading the instructions (VERY IMPORTANT TO DO THIS) and using the product just a couple of times I couldn’t believe my eyes!!
(Before using Acne Free) My skin was honestly in pain. I had a terrible (pre that time of the month break out) and had used some random harsh whatever to exfoliate the top layer. I think I fried it and my entire face was falling off. I wanted to hide in the house for the entire week and didn’t want anyone to see me.
I can say that despite the sensitivity of my skin at the time when I purchased the product (peel city) this product was a GODSEND!! Three days later I was almost out of their “7 day sample” Yea… I used more than I should have I guess. And found myself back at Bed Bath & Beyond buying the full sized version. I also bought their scar healer, and their Acne/Blackhead Terminator. (But would strongly suggest just sticking to the basics until you know whether or not the product works for you).
I had about 30 blemishes that were all annoyingly painful 30% cystic 70% annoying, after a week they had all reduced in size by about 80-100%, and I went from having about 33 blemishes on my face to 15 with slight red dots where the other 50% of the original blemishes were. Would probably have less than that but I was BAAAD and picked
( Someone slap me please!!The previous week (when I had the horrible skin week) I had only gone to visit one friend. He was SHOCKED to see me three days later and asked “what the heck did you use on your skin@$!?”
NOTE: I have been using “HUGGIES” NON SCENTED BABY WIPES TO REMOVE MAKEUP PRIOR TO USING THE ACNE FREE 3 STEP CLEANSING SYSTEM. WHEN I STOPPED USING THESE TO REMOVE MAKEUP FOR A FEW DAYS MY “FRIENDS” CAME BACK A LITTLE BIT.
ALSO FELL ASLEEP WITH MAKEUP ON ONE NIGHT… NOT A GOOD IDEA!! STICK TO USING THIS MORNING AND NIGHT. IF YOU CAN GO WITHOUT MAKEUP FOR A WHILE TRY THAT TOO.
**Honestly it seems to be hit or miss from the reviews I read. I will update this review in a month or so to let you all know of the progress.
I did have several cystic and normal blemishes pop up in places where they had not been before but zapped them with the Acne & Blackhead Terminator and the Repair lotion and they went away in 2-3 days. One – I was bad and squeezed and it will probably take longer to heal but what’s a week for one when I had 33 last week??? I will take 50% improvement any day. Hopefully soon it will be 90-100% improvement!!
So the big “friend” and the other little guys are still healing (normally it would take weeks and then new friends just keep appearing so relief can be few and far between).
Overall skin tone (and I’m a picker so it was pretty red to start) has improved 200% from what it was before. Still doesn’t look amazing but I could see how over time it will get better. The first few days of use I noticed that my entire face was a bit red, but I was in less pain and really didn’t care. This week it is less red than last and also less painful.
I ordered the Zeno ($225), a hand held medical (non prescription) device, to zap the little buggers that pop up from time to time. Apparently there are statistics that support this device and it gets plenty or raving reviews. I can feel a blemish coming on and a friend of mine said that worked really well if you caught it at an early stage so we will see what happens!!
I also am considering picking up the Clarisonic ($195) brush that you can use with your cleanser. The one that comes with it isn’t very good (from what people say) and the nice thing about using “Acne Free” instead of proactive (other than cost, and the fact that proactive didn’t work for me) is that the cleanser doesn’t have granules. So… if you want to use a brush like the Clarisonic then you’re not smudging around granules and moving dirt from one pore to another.
I am planning on letting what is on my face clear up over the next few weeks before I used the Clarisonic brush. But am excited to be able to try something like it.
If you’re not sure if you’re allergic to benzol peroxide test the product on the back of your arm or leg before you use it. If you swell up that’s a good sign that your body isn’t crazy about it.
“the clear skin” suggestions I have seen on the net call for a mild cleanser, a 2.5% benzol peroxide cream, and a mild non clogging moisturizer. Funny that Acne Free has 2.25% benzo in the face wash, 3.7% in the toner, and 2.25% in their “time released” moisturizer. Seems to not be too far off from what some other people claim to work. If your face is too red work up to using the toner two times per day. Start out just at night.
Personally I didn’t care about the red, but if you’re using something like this — use common sense and don’t go lay in the sun (or a tanning bed) for hours, and don’t mix in too many other products or prescriptions. It says not to on the labels!!
Good luck to you all!! I only gave this product a 4 out of 5 stars because I haven’t been using it long enough to give it the full 5 that I think it could deserve. My dermatologis would consider my case “adult/young adult acne” probably caused by stress. I will update this review to let you know how things work out.

I did not use the product on myself but on my boyfriend. He had blood cyst pimples over his entire back for 15 years (since puberty). He has tried many medications, topical and pill, but everything irritated him. We did not want to spend the money on ProActiv, so a friend recommended this product. He used the soap twice a day, and I applied the toner and lotion after each shower. We did not see immediate, overly obvious results in a week. The results came gradually but steadily. After using the product for over two months nonstop, his back was almost completely acne free. He went from having over 40 blood cysts that would infect and stain his shirts and the bed to having maybe 2 or 3 pimples at a time. Even his mother was amazed with the results when she saw him after several months. He said his skin did itch if he did not have the lotion applied properly on his skin. A result of applying acid to your skin is that the skin dries out. We had to make sure that he always had plenty of lotion applied to his skin. After 6 months, we stopped using all three steps. He now only uses the soap (purifying cleanser) once a day, and he has maybe 1 or 2 pimples at a time. The solution doesn’t rid your body of acne permanently, but if you are consistent and dedicated, it will remove most of your acne. We have been using this product for almost two years and are very happy with the results.
