How bad is the pain after surgery? would you describe it as excruciating? also, how much downtime is there? how many days are you in bed and how long do the drains/ pain pump stay in place? how long do you have to refrain from showering and wear bandages over the incision?
Sorry for all the questions–I’m just considering surgery and need good advice. Given all the pain and the obvious costs of the surgery, would you say it is worth it and why??Thanks a lot!!!

Hey! so the pain for me on day 4 was hit really hit me. but it got better each day. I relaxed in bed for 4 weeks. It was SO nice to have that time to myself to heal. I was blessed to have my mom here to help my husband w/ our 3 kids. they were 2 1/2 and the twins were 12 months. By 4 weeks I was up and about taking care of almost everything. not supposed to be lifting the boys, but I did anyway VERY CAREFULLY and only when I had to. My darins were in for 4-5 days if I recall correctly.

I would describe the pain as a “tight” “pulling sensation” and some stinging sensations. Just make sure you are hunching over for the first few weeks this will help the muscle repair heal properly. I think my first shower was day 6? I still had the tape on then. I the tape was removed shortly after that — I was able to wear the gelzone wrap right away once the scabbing went away. Make sure you have someone with you for at least the first week to give you the support you will need.

BTW they have you SO drugged up on narcotics, it really lessens the pain. you just have to make sure to keep up on pain med schedule to manage the pain properly. the first few days you are completely out of it and pretty much euphoric. was it worth it? 100% ABSOLUTELY worth it for me. I have an incredibly flat tummy and I have lost 15 lbs since the surgey ( I work out really hard 4-5 days a week) I am looking and feeling amazing. Compared to the jelly belly I had before I feel sexy again!

You have to weigh just how important the results will be for you. For me it was VERY important to get rid of all that extra sagging skin. This is a major surgery and there are pros and cons. But the pros for me heavily outweighed the cons — by far. It’s all about how badly you want it and how willing you are to get it. GOOD LUCK on your journey!
