I am thinking of buying a used mattress. Is it possible to clean it for dust mites and what is not?
The mattress is seven years, but I’m used to worry about buying it. I hear horror stories about dust mites and what is not, and I do not know if there is a way you can clean the mattress or something aspirateur”il.

steam cleaning can get rid of nasty(other person )stains or wear, but you can never be rid of dust mites.
i saw a special on the news, and there were even dust mites in brand new pillows at a store, and they were packaged! not as many as old stuff, of course, but it is impossible to be rid of them. just dont freak out about it….there are lots of little creatures by you right now that you cant see. -

I agree to buying a new one, but also know that they are costly and buying a new one is not always a financial option. If you do buy the used one, here are a few ideas that might help. Take the mattress outside and spray until it is lightly damp with a diluted mix of Lysol all purpose cleaner and hot water. Then use a cloth and wipe the mattress down. You can then use a vacuum to give it a good once, twice, three times over. You might want to let it air out outside for about 24 hours. If you do not want to mess with all that, try a once over Lysol spray and vacuum it.. Use a base mattress cover or plastic base sheet.. If you do not have either of these, try a couple of blankets under the sheet, between sheet and mattress or double up on the bottom sheets.. Good luck!

Used mattresses contain an average of 15 pounds of dead skin cells, dust mites, hair and bodily fluids.
I’d call in a professional have it chemically cleaned. That’ll run you a few hundred. A good quality mattress pad/cover is about $200 for a king size.
Probably cheaper and more sanitary in the long run just to buy an inexpensive new mattress.
