Which part of the physical examination, an astronaut can not happen is a person with scoliosis surgery?
I had scoliosis surgery a few months ago and am in high school. I really want to work for NASA and maybe not an astronaut, but I was wondering. My doctor said that may people, the operation can do anything but ordinary people had connected the military.
Yea you probably cant do ROTC or anything, do you have a metal rod? Although having back problems might hinder your ability to become an astronaut, I wouldnt count it out yet…you’re really young and by the time you are finished with your studies you could be just as fit any other person to go into space. Just stay active, eat healthy etc. If your back problems do in fact disqualify you from being an astronaut, I don’t think you would be rejected by NASA in other professions unless you are unqualified of course.
Also, I think the Social Security Act makes it illegal for an employer to deny you a job or fire you because you have a disability but are otherwise fit for the job…I think working for NASA is definitely a reachable goal…hope this helps, take care!
