How successful are ovulation tests to help you to think?
My husband and I are trying to become pregnant. We have tried now for 6 months. I think I would know how to purchase an ovulation predictor kit this month to help us, what day I’m ovulation. I’m just curious, for those of you who have used these kits, would you consider it successful? If so, how long you need to think about the use? Thank you for your time and help.

Using an OPK will not greatly increase your chances of getting pregnant. The statistical data only shows a very slight increase.
OPKs predict ovulation and let you know when you are fertile. They can be helpful if your periods are variable from month to month. However, it is important to understand that a normal fertile couple that has unprotected sex twice a week will typically be pregnant in about 3 months. All couples are different, but the need to time sex on the exact day of ovulation is not absolutely necessary.
Further OPKs predict the LH surge which occurs 24 hours before you ovulate. You are considered fertile 3 to 4 days before you ovulate. If you wait around and don’t have sex until you get a positive you are missing fertile days. Generally, conception can be achieved with sex every 48-72 hours.
Not to say that OPKs don’t have a fantastic uses.
They are great if you have really busy schedules for making sure you don’t miss your fertile window. If you are the type of couple that has sex more one week and then may go another whole week without, they can help make sure you don’t let your fertile week sail by.
Also, they provide additional information about your individual cycle that you may find reassuring and helpful. You may know generally when you are fertile based on your cycle length, but being able to mark ovulation on the calendar can be extremely helpful for timing the pregnancy test and giving you peace of mind.
If your cycle lengths vary from month to month they can be helpful.
However, if you and your husband have been having regular frequent sex to try and concieve for the past 6 months, using an OPK will probably not magically result in a pregnancy. I would still recommend using them going forward, they are tool for women who are trying to concieve and given the relatively low cost they are worth the investment so that you know you tried everything.
Other methods to track fertility and ovulation are also valuable and accurate, such as basil body temp charting and cervical mucus charting.
I hope this helps, and I wish you the best of luck and baby dust.

I tried for 6 months to get pregnant with no luck. Starting to get frustrated I ordered a bunch of ovulation test strips from babyhopes.com thinking I would need a lot. During the 7th month trying I used the ovulation test strips and got pregnant that month with no problem! I highly recommend them! Plus they are cheaper than using the tests you buy at a store.

i know they’re pretty accurate in telling you when you’re ovulating. but even though you know you’re ovulating it still comes down to if his sperm make it all the way up. get them and they tell you when you’re 2 most fertile days are. i’m ttc too. somethings i’ve found are that if you have an orgasm AFTER he’s finished inside you then the contracting muscles will push it further up. also if he takes zinc it increases sperm health so they can swim faster. also dont get up at all for like 30 min. its probably better to do it in missionary so you dont have to move at all then prop a few pillows under your pelvis. i used them and they worked great the first time but i lost the baby. but they do work. just do all the other stuff and you should be good to go:]
