What Is A Realistic 7-month Weight Loss For A 300-pound Person?
I am a 5′5″ woman and weigh 300 pounds. I realize this is out of control and have finally decided to fix it. I’ve been on a high-protein, low-calorie diet for a week and lost 7 pounds so far.
Is losing 100 pounds in 7 months possible? My main action will be drastically cutting my calorie intake. I walk about a mile a day, also, but with work not much more than that is feasible since I also get tired pretty easily being my size.
As I understand it, because of how big I am the weight will drop off rather quickly for a while (I know it will be much more difficult once I get down closer to my healthy weight). Will this keep up 6 or 7 months?
How much could I feasibly lose in a year? Is losing 140 an impossible goal?

I hope you are not planning to use the Atkins diet. This really isn’t a healthy diet and it is very difficult to maintain. Everyone I know who tried this diet (including myself)gained all the weight back and then some. I would hate to see you set yourself up for for a big let down in the long run. Not to mention a variety of health problems. I lost my gallbladder due to the Atkins diet in 1983.You will be much better off if you swap some of the protein for healthy fruits and vegetables. If you just eat what you know is healthy and do as much exercise as you comfortably can the weight will come off. You didn’t gain it overnight and you can’t expect to lose it overnight. Giving up white flour and sugar is what works for me. I also don’t eat red meat but that is more of a personal choice than a dietary one. I think you are setting a very unrealistic weight loss goal. It is possible to do it but at what price? Whatever you decide I wish you luck and please keep your focus on health rather than appearance!

Perhaps you could try eating a lot of negative calorie foods that burn more calories than they contain. You can see them in a web search for “negative calorie foods”.

you don’t want to lose weight that quickly(stretch marks)… 2-3lbs a week is good… a high protein low calorie diet only relieves water weight… so you lost 7lbs of water. you should start a meal program to get an intake of about 1750 calories a day.. concentrate on eating less fat and more carbs(yes eat carbs) and proteins. atkins was an idiot who destroyed the lives of millions because the weight they lost they gained back times two after the diet stopped.
