Which Of The Following For Eyeglass Lenses Best For Me? I Have -4.00 For Both Eyes..please Help Thank You!?
I don’t want to spent too much money, can I keep the 1.5 below which included in the lenses I chose, the frame size would be : 50 lense diameter – 19 bridge width – 140 temple length.. which is a thin frame design makes them feel light.
The frame front is semi-rimless and black. Anyway but I just want to know from my vision- near sighted -4.00 each eye, can I use the 1.50 index below, is it going to LOOK THICK after they finish preparing the lense and frame for me?
PS: since I don’t want add $19.95 more for the 1.59index, if not a big difference between 1.5 and 1.59… what will you choose if in your situation?
any suggestions will be very helpful, thanks for your time… wait for answer asap..

Surprising that nobody said anything about the semi-rimless frame. Bad choice for your prescription. If you want to stay with that frame, the 1.67 index lens would be your best choice. Reason being, there is a groove cut around your lenses and thickness HAS to be added to the lenses to support the grooving.
A full eyewire frame would be the best bet, allowing you to go with the less expensive 1.59 (polycarbonate) lenses.

A – 4.00 in regular 1.50 is going to be thick for sure.
The 1.59 would be well worth it. It will reduce thickness by about 40 %
They call it 1.59, but it is actually 1.58..all polycarb is.
The 1.61 would give you better optics, but the 1.59 will be about as thin.
For Rae underneath…the 1.533 is the same as 1.50…it is a regular plastic lens in CR -39

You have a 50 lense diameter which means that the sides of the lenses are going to be thicker. When you have a narrower frame it can cut the thickness off as it uses the more so thinner middle. 1.5 would be fine if you don’t mind thickness, I would assume it would be between 0.5 cm-1 cm thickness. I would reccomend that you go with the 1.6 lense (option three) as it is only $10 more than the 1.58 (which I have never heard of, I know there is a 1.533) and it would be the thinnest. I have a 3.75 and 4.50 perscription and I actually wear a 1.67 index.
