women love yoga and its great for sculpting the body
but i dont see how
i would rather do the gym with the personal trainer. U dont have to get buff or anything just workout so ull be toned
Yoga = stretching alot
gym = stretching but not as much as yoga, lifting weights which can burn alot calories. More muscle = burn more calories.
More muscle also means u will weigh more
by the way some gyms have yoga classes too! so i would definately go with gym since it has everything u need
hope u succeed

It all depends on what type of person you are. If you’re mellow , take yoga. If you’re very high energy and able to accept criticism then take workout classes with a personal trainer. A personal trainer is not there to be your friend.. they ask you what your goal is and make you reach it.
If you just want some serenity and exercise, go the yoga route, but if you have specific goals in mind.. personal trainer is the best route.

Q. How old are you & what is your goal ?
My mother is 75yo & does yoga twice a week – it’s great for flexibility for her. I do some basic T’ai Chi, for the body control – and it helps me focus myself – sounds like mystic mumbo jumbo. But I have less of a drink problem & I have a much clearer mental state – my default state is happier.
Of course, some years ago, I got that from trekking – I used to hike the Grand Canyon & Lose Myself until I found Myself.

both, yoga is good for mind and body, but having a personal trainer will help you build up your muscle better and have a healthier lifestyle all around.

Get a really mean dog, keep it in a cage. Poke it with sticks everyday. When you need some exercise, let the dog out. Run.

If you’ve got the funds, a personal trainer can customize a workout plan to fit your lifestyle and specific “problem” areas. I’m sure you can’t go wrong either way though, Yoga is good excercise and will help you reduce stress, too. Good luck.

Yoga works on the inside, as well as the outside, a two for one for the money!
Afterthought: Although, if your personal trainer is cute…hmmmm, you might want to skip yoga for a while.

Personal trainer for sure.

The best way to spend your money is to join a gym. You don’t need a personal trainer. At my gym they will show you how to use all of the weight machines and cardio machines for free, and all of the aerobics classes are included in the gym membership. (Exercise classes are great because it is easier to exercise with a group of people who are keeping you motivated to go on and complete the class.)
With a gym membership you will get the benefit of lifting weights (which is essential to build muscle and burn fat, tone up) and the cardio which is good for burning fat and awesome for your cardiovascular system.
I had a personal trainer when I first joined my gym because they give you a deal on the rate for new members. It was the worst money I ever spent. She did the weight machine circuit with me (which I can do on my own) and did a few stretches and stuff… I didn’t learn anything. I was looking more for a bootcamp cardio kind’ve workout.

I wouldn’t know about the effects of having a personal trainer at a gym, but Yoga is great to improve your flexibility, strength, endurance/stamina, breathing, posture and also for stress relief and to obtain a feeling of inner peace. I’m sure each “workout” (Yoga is much more than just workout!) has its advantages over the other, depending on what you want. I guess Yoga wouldn’t be the best to burn fat since you’re not even supposed to sweat in its practice, at least not once you get good at it, which doesn’t mean it doesn’t require an effort, because believe me, it does. Besides, there’re several kinds of Yoga, one that’s more physical than the others, one that’s more spiritual and one that’s more balanced between body and spirit.

Actually, a combination of both. Find a gym that offers Yoga classes, many of them do.

It depends on your goals.
Flexibility and stress relief – yoga.
Strength, endurance, muscle tone, and fat burning – personal trainer.

Personal trainer will work you harder than yoga. They will make you cardio, weight training, etc. All of the things you need to really get it shape.

Hi Liza!
I am a personal trainer so my answer is a little biased. However, I will keep it factual.
I believe a trainer is the best route if you can afford it. First off, while yoga is great for strengthening muscles and relaxing, it doesn’t burn a lot of calories due to keeping your heart rate low. Since most people seem to be out to reducing body fat, yoga would have a strike against it here.
Having a good personal trainer does three things. You learn how to shape your body, you have accountability in doing it since you typically meet with a trainer at least once a week, and lastly having a trainer gives you advocacy in your fitness pursuits. It’s motivational to have someone cheer you on as you start to lose weight.
I believe this answers your question, but if not, you may email me.
Good luck on your diet and fitness goals!
Trainer Gregg
