Tumeric is bar-none the best medicinal herb for joint pain!
I have mild deformities in my knees that have caused my patellas to dislocate (they did this ALOT during my teens) and my knees to have mechanical difficulties. I can’t run as my knees are just not stable enough, for example. I have alot of scar tissue in my knee joints because of this condition, and have had some arthroscopic surgery on one to remove the excess scar tissue to try and avoid potential additional issues in the future. All this has left me with mild arthritis, that sometimes flares up for weeks at a time.
The first time I had the long-term flare-up (longer than a few hours that were triggered by cold-wet weather) none of the OTC pain relievers were helping, even in the maximum dosages. I went to my allopathic doctor, who just wanted to give me pain meds while we waited for the results of a few blood tests and x-rays. *sigh* I called a friend of mine who is in school to be a naturopath to ask about pain control. She suggested that I try tumeric, which is an excellent anti-inflammatory.
I started with organic tumeric, just stirred into water. This worked IMMEDIATELY. I was very impressed. I would put about a teaspoon and a half into water and just downed it every 4-6 hours (as needed, basically). When I went on vacation I got Tumeric capsules from the health food store, as it was just easier to travel with. They worked just as well.
My mother-in-law has some problems with her knees swelling when she walks alot. I gave her some of my Tumeric pills and the next day the swelling was gone and she had very little pain. She was also pretty impressed and then mentioned that one of her very good friends has fibromyalgia (sorry if I spelled that wrong) who swears by Tumeric for her pain, and keeps a giant wholesale drum of organic tumeric in her house since she uses it so much!
At the same time I began taking Tumeric, I also began taking a good joint-health suppliment. Get one with Glucosamine & Chondroitin, as this helps rebuild and strengthen all that cartilage and all the other joint elements. This one takes a bit more time to make a palpable difference, since it needs to have time to do its work.
Between the tumeric and the joint-health suppliment you should notice a difference almost immediately, with the positive effects carying forward!

Well, there are several natural supplements that help joint health, a few of which specifically work to build cartilage. The most popular for specifically rebuilding the joints are Glucosamine, Chondroitin, MSM, Cynatine Keratin. The other popular joint products for basic joint health are Microlactin, Tart Cherries, Hyaluronic Acid, Litozin (Danish Rose Hips), Turmeric, and Bromelain. Each of those help with various aspects of lubrication, overall joint support, and similar impacts, but not directly on the cartilage.
The only thing to really watch out for is allergies. Glucosamine is typically from Shellfish and Microlactin is from milk. As long as you’re not allergic to those, you should have no problem. Good luck!
