Are These Good A Levels For Medicine?
I was wondering if Biology, Chemistry, Maths, Further Maths and History were good AS Choices. Also, should I drop one for A level, and if so which one? Also, do you think I could do Physics instead of Biology, because I prefer it, or will this make it harder to do medicine?

Try going on university websites and looking at courses.
Most uni’s will tell you what is required to do that course.
Theres a medicine course at almost every uni I think.
good luck!

These are good, except I wouldn’t advise you to mix Maths and Further Maths. Take something that proves you are not only good at science, e.g. a modern foreigh language like French, or Spanish. History is a good choice, as it shows you have the abililty to analyse and interpret facts.
Work hard and keep your head up.

I found biology a lot more use as a medical student than physics-when I applied for medicine physics and chemistry were the two essential A levels and the third could be maths, further maths, biology, zoology etc. It might be worth keeping a social science type subject to show that you are more rounded than a pure scientist type.

Id check it out with a few university prospectuses, most of which you can see online im sure most will medicine courses will say the same thing. I would say biology, maths and chemistry were the most important (im doing biomedical science and thats what i needed) history definitely isnt important, and as a forth i would think physics would be more useful than further maths although these would be the 4 hardest possible ones you could pick. I wouldnt attempt doing 5 A levels unless your super human, thats pretty unheard of

Chemistry is the vital must have. Basically, if you are going to do three A-Levels, chose Chemistry, Biology and Physics or Maths. Leave out History. Do three and concentrate on getting good grades.
Also, it’s not just about the A-levels, you can be a straight A student and get turned away from medical school if you haven’t had an work experience in the health care field. You could volunteer at a nursing home during the holidays or with your GP surgery.
