depending on the sleeping pills it is very easy to overdose, that is why they must be perscribed and doctors start you out on a very low dosage, because of that sometimes they dont work right away and people take more to help them sleep. I am sorry for your loss.

It’s possible. The best way to know is to examine her mood around the time of her death. If she was upbeat, had plans, seemed happy, chances are she died accidentally. I’m sorry for your loss!

Wow, I am sorry for your loss. I suppose it depends on her age, how much was found in her system amoung other things. An autopsy may be preformed, especialy if she is at a young age. Why was she taking the sleeping pills? Were they prescribed? God bless you and her family.

What I think happens (because sometimes I feel this way) is that I’m so tired and desperate to sleep. Then I take a sleeping pill, but it doesn’t work, and I get more depressed and desperate to sleep, so I just take another. The cycle repeats itself until you’ve taken too many pills, and you pass out, but it’s too late for your body. At that point you’re incapable of calling for help and you just pass away.

I am sorry to hear about that.
Police often rule things like this accidental as a courtsey to the family. Look at the recent Heath Ledger situation.

i guess they can if they feel the recommended dose isn’t working for them. stop trying to make sense of it, if you keep trying to answer that one question, all that’ll happen is you’ll end up with other questions. just grieve and remember your friend as just that…a good friend.
sorry about your loss

I am so sorry to hear about your loss.
Its such a hard thing to lose a friend, and in such a sudden manner like this.
It is actually easier than many think to overdose on meds.
All it takes is 1 too many.
She may have also taken another medication at some point and didn’t know that it could react with her sleeping med.
This is actually what happened with Heath Ledger.
Again, I am so sorry to hear about what happened.

yes… I have. You just never really think of pills the doc gives you as possibly being dangerous, but they are. I spent three days on life support & they gave me a 50% chance of surviving. It took about 6 months for the damage to heal (memory problems, etc.)
Just hang in there. Losing someone is hard, especially when you weren’t expecting it. Just try to think of all the good things about her.
