has anyone ever been through treatment of an eating disorder?
Question : has anyone ever been through treatment of an eating disorder?
i just got busted two days ago. my mom brought me down to the hospital saying i had an appointment, when really she brought me down there cause she thought i had bulimia. she was right. on monday i’m expecting a call from them to see about setting me up with a therapist, but i’m requesting i get into something like group therapy or something. i hate one on ones. i cant stand them. there’s no way i’d open up to some stranger….
so i’m wondering what happened when u got treatment for a disorder? what were u set up with? what r all the options? i dont want a one on one therapist…..
i’m 16 and have been bulimic for almost two years.

in group therapy you open up to the group about what ever your issue is. then you get feedback and support from the rest of your group. and depending on the group you may do activities or other things that just allow you to relax and be your self for a while.
stay strong
and remember that you can beat
this because you ARE strong,
and you ARE worth it

ok well i didnt get treatment for an eating disorder, but cutting and self injury instead. there are different things you can do. Group vs one on one, inpatient treatment vs outpatient, taking meds vs not…
i chose to go to a therapist because group means you talk to a bunch of people, not jsut one…and you still talking abotu the same stuff…jsut to more people.
as for being scared to talk to a therpist…you realize that they try to make you as comfortable as possible. they have heard it all…they jsut give you a place to say it outloud…no judging at all. if you dont feel comfortable with a therapist after about 3 or 4 sessions, find a new one. shop around. i have had 5 and the last one i have been seeing for teh past 2 years. these people try to understand you and want to help…not sit and jude and make you feel uncomfortable and crazy.
as for meds, thats your doctors opinion and they will help you decide, and depending on the severity or your case, you might need to go to an inpatient treatment center.
in the end…no matter what you decide to do, you want to have to get better, noone can make you. my choice was one on one…but just knwo that going into group you pretty much talk to other girls abotu what you would tlak abotu with a therpist. try both…see what works best.
