will eating disorder clinics care if you’re a vegan?
Question : will eating disorder clinics care if you’re a vegan?
okay so i’m a vegan and i am thinking about going to an eating disorder clinic to get recovery. anyways, i don’t want to have to eat meat or dairy. it’s not about the weight gain, it’s a part of my ethical foundation. i became a vegan wayyy before my eating disorder. will they force me to eat meat and dairy? i will eat other things to gain weight, just not meat and dairy.
wow, shayla, that was a very ignorant answer. when humans were first created, when they were the way God himself said was good, they were vegans. they didn’t eat meat. we can survive not eating meat or dairy. if you don’t eat the right foods when you’re a vegan, you’re going to have problems. but that’s YOUR fault, not being vegan. it’s not that you were a vegan that caused you bone problems, it’s that you were irresponsible and didn’t consult your doctor or take calcium supplements or eat food that had calcium in it. and your eating disorder- not because you were a vegan. you chose that path. and eating meat and dairy isn’t a magical fix for eating disordered vegans. it’s deeper than that, you retard.

I think you should focus on recovering first before you worry about being a vegan.
I certainly don’t mean to be insensitive here, as I have had to seek recovery in the past myself.
Sometimes we don’t always know what is best for us and although it may be very possible that a facility will work with you on this, my concern is that you are going in closed minded and that may effect the way that you are treated by staff and other clients.
Instead of saying flat out that you Will Not eat something, why don’t you go and address your issues, kindly explain your beliefs and go from there.
An open mind will get you alot farther as far as your recovery will go.
You can’t go somewhere asking for help and then telling them the rules, you know???
You may however do some research into vegan eating disorder clinics. It would not surprise me at all if there weren’t quite a few of them available to help you.
I hope that you didn’t take offense, I am always to the point when i answer, especially when it comes to the reality of a rehabilitation facility. It helps you to stay if you know what you are walking into!!
Good Luck and Best Wishes!!
