hi, i personally have not been an inpatient, but I was a student nurse on a placement in a clinic with inpatients with anorexia nervosa.

If you are WILLING to help yourself, you will find the programs to be helpful. YOU have to make an effort, no one else can do it for you! Noone can force you to eat….you have to overcome your fear and do it…..the staff are there to help you…but you have to be open to the experience, listen to the counsellors, and talk to the other inpatients…they are all there to help! if you are NOT willing to help yourself, then I found that those inpatients were the ones that suffered, and frankly…it was a waste of their time, and a waste of the resources in the clinic!

IF YOU WANT TO GET THROUGH THIS…..you and only you can do it………and being an inpatient can certainily help with this!

Goodluck….

Did the Trooper have grounds to arrest me for DWI?

Question : Did the Trooper have grounds to arrest me for DWI?
I was traveling home and i decided to stop for something to eat, so i got off the exit. when i realized burger king wasn’t open, i found a spot to turn around. when i did so a NH trooper pulled in front of me. after a few questions she asked me to exit the vehicle. she asked if i had any medical problems, and i told her i had knee surgeries on both of my knees. SO she only administered 3 tests. then at that point she asked if i would like to blow in the on site breathalyzer i said im not sure, and she said well in that case i would be placed under arrest. so i agreed to take the breathalyzer. once i blew it came up as reading .09. and i said no, that isn’t right, i want to blow again. she told me i don’t have that option, and she placed me under arrest. i know that not to be true, you are allowed to blow at least twice in NH, because the manufacturers of the portable breath test say that for it to be accurate, you must have at least two readings.SO i got back to the station, and signed the pink form to allow to take the Breathalyzer there. i was confused, SO i was asking her questions about the machine, and she was getting irritated SO i was going down to blow into the machine, and i wiped my face, and she flipped out, and shut the machine down. then she told me to go to into the cell. i insisted i was allowed to blow into the machine. she wouldn’t let me, then i was sent into the cell. i feel like she misused her authority, and was misinformed of the laws in NH, because she has only been on the force for 2 years she told me… this isn’t my first DWI charge, SO i was confused on what she was doing, compared to my first one. and i let her know that, and she said they have different rules?? i don’t know if that makes sense.?
NVM!!! all u ppl give fucked up answers… if ur not a lawyer, dont answer the fucking question, cuz u dont know the laws.. this is my 2nd DWI charge, i know more about this then everyone that has answered soofar… i do have a mistrial, soo dont give b/s answers to people, 4 real!

Should I try to talk to my daughter’s father?

9

Question : Should I try to talk to my daughter’s father?
Ed initiated a physical (and I thought emotional as well) relationship with me. When I told I was pregnant his reaction was “I don’t want kids” and “I thought you were on the pill”. I asked Ed to take some time to think about whether he wanted to be involved & call me when he decided. I also, because he was being so rude to me, told Ed that I believed his treatment of me was ignoble. I had a very difficult & expensive pregnancy, but was able to have a healthy girl who is now 6 months old. I work & am able to support my daughter & 19 year old son (who is in college), but just barely. In other words- I don’t have enough money to hire a lawyer if Ed decides to be a jerk. I have not spoken to Ed since I told him I was pregnant. I feel very fortunate to have my daughter, but worry about her not having a father in her life. Should I call Ed to give him another chance? If he does not want to be involved should I contact his family and give them the option of being involved with her?
I’ve known “Ed” for 6 years. He lives a 4.5 hours from me. I’m 41, he’s 46. Birth control was never mentioned by either of us. We were only together once and it was my first and only physical relationship since my previous relationship 6 months prior. In that relationship my partner and I unsuccessfully tried to have a baby for 4 years (I had worked closely with my gynecologist and even taken clomid in the effort to conceive)- I believed myself physically unable to get pregnant.
I later mailed Ed a family medical history questionnaire. I never got it back, but I got a typewritten note that said “adopted male” and had about 6 conditions listed on it, in a typewritten envelope with no return address. I am not positive it is from Ed because my previous partner actually was adopted and we had registered on several websites in the effort to find his birth parents, giving my name and PO box as a contact. Also, I have seen pictures of Ed’s sister and she looks just like him. It was extremely rare for siblings to be adopted out in pairs in the late 50’s –early 60’s.
To choice_4_men:

I looked at your profile and the websites you have listed. That logic is ***SO*** flawed!!! A man does have a choice if he does not want children- he can choose not to sleep with a woman. He can choose to ask about birth control. He can use a condom. He can get a vasectomy. If he doesn’t do any of these things (and Ed did not) then he is irresponsible.

By the way- I did take responsibility for my actions. I am raising my daughter.

Yeah, totally call him again and talk to him. Give him a chance to involve himself. Also, you should get his family involved if they want to. At least let them know, man. They MIGHT want to help. =)

Eating disorder treatment?

Question : Eating disorder treatment?
I’m getting assessed by a doctor on Tuesday but I’m just curious and trying to figure out if I can stay in college while getting treated.
-I’m 19, 5′ 7″ or so, about 100 pounds, been thin my whole life but have been losing weight recently
-periods have pretty much stopped, I get dizzy a lot and sometimes have trouble remembering things and concentrating (I also have slight depression)
-don’t binge, purge, or purposely restrict
-eat very little in quantity
-have very little variety
-don’t think I’m fat and have those body issues
I think it might just be restrictive eating and selective eating disorder that develop when I was very young and has stayed with me. I know that I don’t have anorexia, bulimia, or a typical eating disorder.
Do you think they’ll recommend residential treatment or partial hospitilization? Will it help since I don’t have one of those typical eating disorders? My social worker said I need more help than he can provide me. I can’t just make myself eat, but I can’t explain why.

I don’t think you’ll be put in in-patient treatment unless you are refusing food altogether for long periods of time. The fact that it’s causing you health problems is bad though; if anything’s going to put you in in-patient, it’ll be that. It’s likely you’ll have slightly more intensive therapy than you’ve been used to, though.

I’d reccomend increasing your in-take bit by bit. Just little bit, like half a biscuit more or whatever. Also, there are nutrient shakes out there designed for those with eating disorders or those who have trouble keeping their food down that contain lots of vitamins and good stuff your body needs.

A few things: the BMI required for an anorexia diagnosis is 17.5 (whoah, that’s lower than I expected!) and you have a BMI of 15.7, so you’re well within the requirements. Anorexia isn’t solely dependant on the purposeful restriction of food; it can also be diagnosed because of lack of appetite (anorexia translated means lack of appetite). Furthermore, if you’ve missed three months ormore of your period, you’re further eligible for the diagnosis.

As for the Selective Eating thing…Does this sound familiar? An anxiety about eating particular foods based on texture, taste, smell, appearance or other factors. It’s sometimes characterised as a form of OCD. It’s true that people with SED have an extremely limited range of foods that they will eat, but aside from that, based on your description, I see no other connection.

I’m waffling now. Ignore me.
