Eating disorder recovery help?
Question : Eating disorder recovery help?
I’ve suffered with anorexia since the beginning of April 2009. I was hospitalized in an inpatient program in July for about 7 weeks for uncontrollable symptoms and weigh loss again. I’m 16 since May 24th and now 6’3 in height. Before my ED I used to eat
two bowls of cereal for breakfast in the morning,
a sandwich with dorittos or chips at lunch,
chips, poptarts with milk, cookies with milk, or ice cream for a snack when I got home
dinner varied, but i ate whatever portion my dad put on my plate usually
and at night i would usually have ice cream, poptarts with milk, or cookies with milkd(i wouldn’t have something if I had it earlier for an afternoon snack)
And I would constantly have big slurpees from 7-Eleven.
When I was eating all this before my eating disorder I was 6 foot and 150 lbs with a rock hard six pack and was pretty skinny, but was basically all muscle. I used to do 200 situps a night and was pretty physically active all the time. I guess due to all those factors I had a high metabolism, which my doctor said I have my whole life and will because I got it from my grandfather.
Now, that I’m 6’3 155 lbs I’m not eating that, I’m eating differently and less, I stay away from the junk food and slurpees that I used to eat. My question is if I start eating everything the way I was before will I gain a lot of weight? Will my metabolism get back to where it used to be before my eating disorder if I start doing everything as I used to? Will it kick back in once I start eating that way again? and will my fat to muscle weight ratio go back to where it was before my eating disorder if I eat and exercise like I did before? Sorry for such a long post, I just want to be sure. Thanks for all the help and advice. If anyone has been through this problem before and is willing to talk about it and give their input and advice through email my email is michaelhill24@comcast.net
will I be able to get back to the fat and muscle weight ratio I was before if I ate like I did before and exercises like I did before, which is decribed above

i have to say, i went through this. I was diagnosed with anorexia in october 08, then bulimia summer of this year. i started eating normally again after finally getting help.. it’s been a couple months of regular eating and exercise. I went from 98 pounds to 105 now. Oh, I am female, 5’3.. i did gain weight, but not too much, because I exercise everyday. you are going to gain weight, but start exercising and when you do eat, eat smartly. I admit, i don’t eat smartly everyday.. but i try to eat one healthy meal a day.. but exercising helps me enjoy not so healthy foods
before i started eating normally, i would only eat fruits and veggies 3 times a day. nothing else. i was sick, but I am very happy i got help. don’t be afraid of gaining weight, your body needs it. just don’t overeat. good luck.
