Question : Will scar tissue from diabetes pump sites ever heal?
My daughter’s stomach is mostly all scar tissue and no longer seeming to absorb insulin. We are having a hard time finding good pump sites. If we lay off for awhile and use her arms and legs can we ever go back to her stomach where she prefers to have her infusion site? How long will that take?
diabetes pump

hey i used to used the pump and i had the same issue. first, make sure that you are using the thinnest and shortest infusion site thats comfortable for your daughter. also, if its scabby and raised when you take out the site, chances are that shes having allergic reactions to the site or it really infected which speeds up growth of scar tissue. im allergic to the plastic used for sites so i had to stop pumping, but my scar tissue has only gone down almost completely unnoticably. try using lower back or arms, give her stomach a break, like lay off for a month or two, if there are scabs get at it with alcohol then a bandaid with neosporin. its not going to go down much by itself once its there to the best thing to do its to rotate rotate rotate her site. arms, back, legs, stomach, arms, back, legs, stomach, trust me its going to bug her alot when she get older so its best just not to let it get any worse, and if its horribly thick with scar tissue talk to her doctor about removal surgery, it is a real surgery but is only reccommended for extreme cases. i hope i helped you out!
