they are going to have you put on a hospital gown and then lay on the hospital bed and they are going to put all these little sticky things on you that are connected to wires that are connected to the heart monitor. it will take about 20 minutes.
An EKG helps measure and monitor your heart. They get you to put on a hospital gown and lay on the bed, then they’ll put sticky things with on you – I had 3 on the left side of my chest, one on the right, three on each leg and I think there were a few more. They connect wires from the sticky things to the machine, press a few buttons and start monitoring. It doesn’t take long at all. Some nurses take off the sticky things for you, others don’t. The first time I had one, I was finding those sticky things for the rest of the day, so the second time I counted them, so I would know exactly how many I needed to find.
I have never been in group therapy, so I asked a friend of mine what it was like for her. She said it wasn’t her favourite part of therapy, but it was ok. If it keeps you out of hospital, then do it – hospitalization is worse. Anyway, she said they did the whole sit around in a circle and talk about things. There was not much pressure to talk, which she did find helpful (compared to one-on-one counseling or therapy, where you have to talk at some point).
With any kind of therapy, make the most of it. Especially in your case at the moment, where it could keep you out of hospital.
