It would easy to use for a tween or the elderly. If they could use it, then I could.

I use the OneTouch Ultrasmart meter. It’s very simple to use and even tracks your sugars for you. I love it!

I like Freestyle Flash best overall. It uses a very small blood sample size, and the best feature is you can reapply the blood sample if you don’t get it right the first time. This can save a lot on wasted test strips. I also like the fact that it has a backlight for testing in dark conditions.
Freestyle Flash is a very small meter, with very small test strips too. So, for the elderly (or anybody with dexterity or vision problems) it might be easier to use something with a larger display and larger strips.

All blood monitors are practically the same. There are some key points I would follow when choosing a monitor.
1. Are you on health insurance?
If you are not on health insurance I would recommend getting a generic meter ( like Walgreens or CVS brand) by doing this you will save money on test strips and lancets for they will be a lot cheaper then a name brand and you will get the same results.
2. If you have health insurance (or not) does your Doctor have a way to hook up to a certain meter and get reading out?
Some doctors are able to hook up to certain kinds of monitors and read the information. Using that information they are able to asses what you need to maintain and control you diabetes.other then that there is no big difference. I use Ascenia Contour. It’s what the hospital gave me when i found out.

It’s fast, easy and the most accurate.
