Question : What is it like being awake during the in-clinic abortion procedure?
I am having one in two days and I won’t be under anesthesia so I was wondering what to expect.

You get needles to numb you, and an iv with meds in it. Its like being extremely high and happy. To be honest, you dont even know whats going on around you because you are so doped up. Anesthesia puts you right to sleep, this stuff makes you feel like you are in the clouds.

It’s not the physical pain that should concern you. By all accounts, it can vary greatly. More to the point, the long-term emotional anguish of abortion is a much more serious threat. When I was 15 I had an abortion. I had some medication given to me orally. I felt pressure for about 20 minutes and the procedure was done. I REGRET the decision I made! I am now pregnant now and can’t wait to be a mother. Please really think this through. Your life will change whether it hits you today or a year later.

You’ll be put either on “happy gas,” like they use at the dentist, or you can get an IV in your hand with meds to calm you. You’ll be numbed by a shot in your cervix so there won’t be any pain. When they start there will just be a little tugging feeling and a little bit of pressure. No pain though! Afterwards you will be taken to a room where you can rest a little bit. You’ll probably be dizzy from the gas or IV and the loss of blood. The doctor or nurse will give you a regular absorbancy pad and tell you how to keep an eye on that. Then after about half an hour you’ll be ok to go home. Hope this helped. Good luck.

I don’t know how answer this b/c I’m totally against it! However, have you thought about adoption? There are alot of couples that can not have children and want some. GOD does not give you gift for you to trash it, instead if you are not interested in the baby just adopt it. Give your gift to another that can not do it. Please think about it. I’m not trying tobe rude and/or mean about it. I just really hate to hear when someone is about to have an abortion…. Please think about it…..

I had an abortion today with no medication.
Let me walk you through it.
First off, don’t get intimidated by all the people that are going to be rude and tell you, that it is wrong.. This is your choice, don’t let anything or anyone influence your decision.
You will first get an exam by a nurse or MA. with a vaginal ultrasound. I was really scared even for this! However, the people are very nice and there was much pain, just a little discomfort.
During the procedure. They will tell you it is painful and you will experience lots of cramping. Now, I am very modest, and this was the scariest thing I have ever experienced. However, Someone was talking me through it the entire time. When it came to the “painful” part, it was uncomfortable, it hurt a little bit like cramps, but it wasn’t horrible! I walked out and was okay 10 minutes later. You might bleed, be uncomfortable, but it isn’t very painful and the people are very nice.
My best advice, be mentally prepared. Try to take deep breaths and make sure you are confident in your decision.
