Heartburn is also called acid reflux. It is caused by acid from the stomach running back up the esophagus. It isn’t a symptom of a heart attack.

Certain foods and lifestyle are considered to promote gastroesophageal reflux:
Coffee, alcohol, and excessive amounts of Vitamin C supplements are stimulants of gastric acid secretion. Taking these before bedtime especially can promote evening reflux. Calcium containing antacids are in this group[3].
Foods high in fats and smoking reduce lower esophageal sphincter competence, so avoiding these tends to help, as well. Fat also delays emptying of the stomach.
Having more but smaller meals also reduces the risk of GERD, as it means there is less food in the stomach at any one time.
avoid eating for 2 hours before bedtime
avoid soft drinks
avoid chocolate and peppermint
avoid spicy foods
avoid acidic foods like oranges and tomatoes (however, they are okay when fresh.)
avoid cruciferous vegetables: onions, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, spinach, brussel sprouts
milk and milk-based products contain calcium and fat, so should be avoided before bedtime. -

According to many doctor heartburn is cause by too much acidity of the stomach. It was called heartburn because the pain you fill when you have a heartburn is almost as the same level as where the heart is located. Heartburn is not a symtom of heartattack but it is mistaken for a heart attack beacause as i have said the pain you feel is near the heart.

Sometimes a person will think they have heartburn but really be having a heart attack.
Heartburn is caused by too much acid in the stomach. Some foods may cause this in some people and sometimes it is caused by stress or unknown reason.
Over the counter drugs (Pepcid, Zantac and Tagamet) will help stop the acid. Prescription drugs such as Prilosec and Nexium prevent acid from being created in the stomach.
Try an over the counter drug for a few days, if no relief see a doctor.

Heart burn is caused by increased stomach acidity and cause a chest pain hence the the heart burn.sometimes this chest pain may miss diagnosed with a chest pain caused by myocardial infarction, so the should consider all the possibilities before he dismiss the patient
