Question : What are my options for my dog who has lymphoma cancer?
Recently i noticed that my dog, buddy, had 2 lumps underneath his neck. I first noticed this about 2 weeks ago. I brought him the the vet last thursday and they took a blood sample and fluid from the lump in his lower neck. I got the results for the blood test and everything was fine;also there was no sign of a high white blood cell count. It is now sunday and i have still not recieved the results for the other test. I called the vets and they said that it would be intill next tues. or wednesday for me to get the results. I am freaked out right now because i have read that lymphoma kills quick. My main question is what are my options at this point?

I would also like to know whether it is normal for the cancer test results to take a week to come back.

Also it would really help if someone can tell me what kind of treatment he will go through.

P.S.- Buddy also has a lump on his lower leg.

Thanks,

We had a dog that had lymphoma, but by the time it was detected, there weren’t a whole lot of options. We just loved him and treated him well until the pain became to much and we had him put to sleep.

Just wait until the test results come back. Yes, it is that normal for it to take that long. One of my mom’s danes was just diagnosed with a malignant tumor behind the eye, and it took quite a while for the results from the biopsy to come back. Once you have the results, you will be able to discuss treatment options with your vet.

*I know this is not about dogs…but it’s an optomistic outlook. My aunt had breast cancer that spread to 6 of the lymph nodes. The docs said without chemo she was looking at maybe a year left to live. Rather than doing radiation/chemo, she went on a specific diet and starting taking some herb and she is actually cancer free now. Yeah, I had trouble believing it…but it is possible.

Edit: Seriously? Thumbs down? For answering the question? Get the fuck over yourselves.
