Developed by Dr. Barry Sears, a researcher at Boston University School of Medicine and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the Zone diet is a diet plan that focuses on the ideal state of body and mind. This is a state of mind where the body rested and at its peak power and performance. The term zone was of what athletes often use the beginning of the zone in which they borrowed from the performance level of their body in peak performance.

Mr. Sears, the lipids and their role in the development of chronic diseases in the body studied, then the diet after his father died of a heart attack in 1970, designed. But the concept is still raw, until 1982, when the Nobel jury a research grant to the relationship of hormones called eicosanoids and development of certain set of diseases, diabetes, heart problems and even cancer include excellent study.

In 1995, the doctor his research and compiled in a book entitled “Get in the zone.” He was an international bestseller, topping lists worldwide. To date he has sold more than four million copies. The book was so successful that Dr. Sears has published over 10 pounds on this.

The plan promotes the consumption of grilled meat, fruit and vegetables of course. People who must be under the program meals, which consist of a piece of meat, fruit and vegetable two-thirds. The diet consists mainly of 40 percent carbohydrates, proteins /> 30 percent and 30 percent fat as monounsaturated fats, as found in fruits such as avocado, guacamole and macadamia nuts, composed.
Carbohydrates are made from fruits, vegetables and whole grains. Sometimes pasta, rice and bread are allowed, but only small portions. The protein on the other side of lean meats and poultry such as chickens and turkeys taken. Fish and soy products can also be eaten.
