Should you go to a treatment center if you think you’re bulimic?
Question : Should you go to a treatment center if you think you’re bulimic?
So… about a year ago I just started feeling really bad and not in control of my life. I usually just sat in my room and cried and screamed all night. But about three/four months ago I was introduced to the BP system. I don’t remember how, but I do remember that I became very closely attached very quickly. I would do it 6-10 times a day. And I just started realizing in the last couple of weeks that this is bad and I might have an eating disorder. I tried to just quit… I went a whole day without overeating and purging! The next day, though, I made up for it tremendously. I can’t not do it. I’m not going to say that I have to do it, but I definitely no longer want to do it. I just need to. It’s a familiar routine that makes me feel safe, secure, and powerful. I feel as if when I do it that I can control myself and my life and that what people say about me doesn’t matter. When I’m lying awake at night, staring at the wall, unable to sleep, it gives me something to do instead of cry and watch on as other people take over my thoughts.
But I believe there are other(better) ways to feel powerful and wonderful and strong in this world. And I want those ways. I want help. I want recovery.
So the question is that I was wondering if 3-4 months is even bulimia and if it’s severe enough to get treatment at a center. I think that would work best for me. Keep in mind that I am thirteen years old. Okay. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.
