Which colleges have strong phsychology programs? If you went into psychology, what school did you attend, and was it satisfactory?

psych majors are a dime a dozen!! Pick a major that is not sooo flooded.

Are you looking for undergraduate programs in psychology or graduate programs? It really depends on what area you are planning to focus on within psychology. I’ve put a link in my sources to the National Research Council’s findings on the best psychology Ph.D. programs and this site provides links to the schools’ websites.
I received my undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (tied for second with three other schools on the list I’ve linked). While my studies were focused in rhetoric and sociology, I took several psychology courses and I cannot recommend the program enough. I’ve also given a link to the psychology department’s website.

I got my Psychobiology degree from the University of California, Davis, but I took courses at UC Berkeley as well. I do not recommend either program. The teacher to student ratio is probably about 1 teacher for every 250 students. Very impersonal and TAs aren’t even accessible. Most classes at the lower division level are taught by graduate students that know little to nothing about teaching. Upper division courses sometimes are taught by adjunct faculty, so you’ll have a hard time getting them for office hours or e-mail exchange. Every single exam you will ever take will consist of regurgitating the book in a multiple choice quiz.
Avoid all those stereotypes about “top program.” The truth is that undergraduate programs pretty much can find a better education at a smaller school. My Psych program is rated about 15 or 17 in the WORLD last time I checked, and it was still piss poor.
