Nasal decongestant?
Question : Nasal decongestant?
Does anyone know a natural decongestant for my sinuses. I’ve tried tylanol sever sinus and it hasn’t done jack.

Nasal decongestants only give you temporary relief and can actually damage your sinuses. Definitely not recommended. They don’t really overcome the real problem which is overactive mucus glands. The same applies to antibiotics and surgery to enlarge your sinus cavities.
Switching from mucus generating dairy products and red meat to soy milk and white meat is more likely to help.

Well you have several options:
If you want to get an rx from your doc, Zyrtec works wonderful.
If you want to stick with an over the counter med, Sudafed is quite effective.
If you want to try a more homeopathic approach, then try Muco Stop from Enzymedica.

My husband has had horible sinus problems for a long while, taking everything under the sun, but to no avail. He got this and now, his sinuses are back to normal!

I nearly boil about 5 cups of water and put it into a glass bowl. I lay down in my floor and put my face over the bowl about 8 inches above it so it doesn’t burn, and throw a towel over my head and the bowl to hold in the steam. Breathe really deeply until the water stops being steamy. I do that every time I feel my head plugging up and I genenrally et over sinusitis in about 1-2 days. For an extra treat, i sometimes add a few drops of vicks vapor rub or vanilla flavor to the water.

Have you tried eucalyptus? I’m a faithful user of Vicks vapo-rub when I’m congested, but I’ll bet you can purchase a homeopathic version in any health food store and inhale some steam with that in the water and it would work well, or make a warm compress of it and put it on your chest. Fee; better soon.

I use zyrtec. You have to get a subscription for it though. It works really well. The only thing that I hate about it is that it will give you dry mouth. But I would rather deal with dry mouth for a little while than with sinus issues. Also I always take it at night because it can cause drownsiness.

Well I used to have the same problem. It got so bad that no medication worked. I was even getting infected sinuses.
Then this Nurse Practicioner told me something that works everytime and it is so simple. Just drink hot liquids, tea, water, whatever is hot. Works like a charm. Also drink plenty of pomegranate juice. It is natural and harmless. A natural immunology builder upper.
This is so simple and really works for me. I do not understand why a doctor never told me about this. But drinking hot liquids really works and fast!

Best bet is to go with a steroid (the good kind, not the Chris Benoit kind), like Flonanse or Rhinocort. You need a prescription for them, but they work well.
Over the counter sprays like Afrin will clear you up quickly, but you can become “addicted”. It’s not really an addiction, but
after a few days your nasal membranes may become tolerant — or less responsive — to the effects of the medication. As a result, you may need to use more and more of the medication to control congestion or your congestion may worsen if you stop using the medication (rebound congestion). -
